In Need of ONLINE TEXTBOOKS?Looking for online textbooks and curriculum...aligned to NC Standards? You need to visit: #GoOpenNC NC is a leader in digital teaching and learning and has spent the last couple of years working with educators across the state to curate and establish an online repository of high quality instructional resources. An easy way to get started is visit the GoOpenNC Collections.
These resources can all be linked in Canvas and accessible by students. The resources are available for all NC Educators for use with all K-12 students. Check it out! | There's An App for ThatHave an app you would like to use with your students? If teachers have an app they would like pushed out to student iPads, they should enter a Tech Request with the exact name of the app, a link to it from within the App Store, grade level of the students, and general information on student usage. The tech department will examine the security, privacy, and data access the app requires as well as its compliance with state and federal laws. Teachers will be notified via their submitted Tech Request when the app has been approved. View this GUIDE on how students access approved apps. An easy way to get started is visit the GoOpenNC Collections.
- To begin, log into IAM/NCEdCloud
- Click GoOpen in the dashboard
- From the GoOpenNC page, select Discover and choose Collections
- Scroll through and click on your content area
- On the Collections page, use the drop down to select Textbooks (or search by Standards, Grade Level, etc.)

There's An App for That
Have an app you would like to use with your students?

Accessibility Starts Here
As we move forward with our Apple Initiative, we want to share some Accessibility Features that you can add to your personal devices (MacBook and iPad), as well as, student devices if needed. This will help you and your students get more out of your iPads.
- Assistive Touch (iPad) - Use AssistiveTouch to adjust volume, lock your screen, use multi-finger gestures, restart your device, or replace pressing buttons with just a tap. Learn How Here
- Closed Captions and Subtitles - Offers alternative audio languages and subtitles for students who are deaf/hard of hearing - Learn How Here
- Magnify Your Screen - Use your iPad as a magnifying glass to zoom in on objects near you. Learn How Here
- Zoom - Enlarge an area of your screen on the fly. You can get a picture-in-picture view, allowing you to see the zoomed area in a separate window while keeping the rest of the screen at its native size. Learn How Here

Employee Password Change/Reset Employees can now reset or change their passwords from any type of device while on the school network. You can access the Password Change/Reset Tool by visiting the district website. From there, any of the below paths will take you to the tool.
The first time you use the tool, you will choose Enroll and follow the prompts. After you are enrolled, you can use the tool to do the following:

Mrs. Ralph has been a media coordinator at Southwest Elementary for 7 years. Congratulations Mrs Ralph!! We all wonder how this new shift to all online learning will affect our students, our own families and even the world beyond. Now more than ever, you may have parents reaching out for support and resources on how to keep their child safe online. You may want to refer parents to the Remote Instruction Toolbox on the district website. In the Toolbox, look for the "Parent/Teacher Partnership" menu item. Following the links at the bottom of that page, there are resources for parents on:
There are over 100 topics for parents! They are all age appropriate, and all of them are available in Spanish. Be sure to also put parents in contact with the school counselor for additional support and resources! |

April is National School Library Month!
LCS Media Coordinators are our SUPER HEROES! They use their SUPERPOWERS to serve and support the students and staff of Lexington City School. Thank you Media Coordinators for all that you do!

Student Online Safety At Home
You may want to refer parents to the Remote Instruction Toolbox on the district website. In the Toolbox, look for the "Parent/Teacher Partnership" menu item. Following the links at the bottom of that page, there are resources for parents on:
- privacy settings that can be turned on for any device to protect their child while online
- helping their child handle social media anxiety
- dealing with their child's constant need to be online (phone, computer, gaming, etc.)
- parental control tools for helping monitor their child's online presence
There are over 100 topics for parents! They are all age appropriate, and all of them are available in Spanish. Be sure to also put parents in contact with the school counselor for additional support and resources!
