"To the world you may be one person, but to one person, you may be the world."
~ Dr. Seuss
Happy Read Across America Week!
With Appreciation:
- Our sunshine committee and 1st grade team - they are busy planning events for staff (babies and retirements!) and our community (120th day and Volunteer Thank You!)!
- Arty, Pam, Tricia and Karen - thanks for your help this week as we got organized for K camp out!
- Our team for your efforts to find holes and gaps in our safety systems...it'll take time, but we'll get there!
New News/Information
Safety:
If you have any safety issues in your classroom - doors that don't lock easily, broken blinds, etc... - please let Jen or Markus know ASAP!
If you have any chrome book(s) that are damaged (missing keys, damaged screens) or not functioning, please send them up to the office ASAP with a sticky note indicating where they came from and what is wrong.
We have new chrome books we can give you while we work with the district to get your units repaired/replaced.

Older Stuff/Reminders
- Just a reminder that it's best practice to avoid including student names in email subjects, and it's important to only write things that you'd be willing to have someone read later.
- Update from the DO - plug in air fresheners (glade style scented oil warmer style) are not to be used in classrooms. Per the DO, they are a documented fire hazard, among other things. If you have one plugged in, you'll find it unplugged and left on your desk.
- Can you believe it costs about $35,000 to build a wall ball court that is DSA (CA Division of State Architect) compliant?
- Parent Input Form - we don't widely advertise this, but our parent input form is available on our website now. It is due by 3/1/18. Feel free to direct your families to our website, click on "about us" and then on "forms." It's also linked in our K registration page. For ease, it is linked here.
- We MUST be sure to lock the gate between the F and G and between the Admin Bldg and K building EVERY time you come through. Last week one was left open and ajar during the day. We have children on campus who might readily take advantage of that easy opening to leave campus and others may try to get in.
- It is ESSENTIAL that someone at each recess has a radio. We use the radio to communicate if a child is being checked out or to ask urgent questions. It's also very helpful in the event that you have an emergency on the playground that needs office support. We are ordering another radio for use if you have PE on the grass while recess is happening
- Please be sure to put the ball cart back in the PE equipment closet after recess/afternoon PE so that our equipment is not used by folks hanging out on campus after school. STAR uses their own equipment, so they don't need to borrow ours!
Working Late?
- If you find yourself in a situation where you aren't feeling safe or you need help, don't hesitate to call Arty at 916 297 5210 (he's here until about 10 pm) or Jen at 702 324 6884 or if needed you can always dial 911 for support.
- Should you find that you are having issues where your safety is a concern, please let Jen know so can figure out how to address it.
