Southern Boone Elementary
3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade
August 17, 2020 - Elementary Reentry Plans Fall 2020
Good Morning!!
We are excited to start this school year and look forward to seeing all our students' smiling faces. We realize these are uncertain times and anything can change at the last minute. However, in an effort to be as preventative as possible we have developed three reentry plans for this school year.
The first plan, and the one we plan to begin the year with, is designed for In Person instruction. Students will attend school in person. Masks will be worn into the building, during Art, Music, Counseling, Library, and during passing time in the hallways. Stable groups have been created with classrooms. Students will travel with cohort groups, consisting of 4 classrooms, to lunch and recess. While in these cohort groups masks will not be required.
If a change in the learning environment is needed, due to COVID, we will move to the second plan of learning. The second plan is a hybrid model where one group of students will attend in person school on Monday and Tuesday and then have virtual learning the rest of the week. A different group of students will have virtual learning during the early part of the week then attend in person classes on Thursday and Friday. This plan may be implemented at any time, please plan child care accordingly.
If we still need to modify our approach to education due to safety concerns, the virtual instruction plan will be implemented. This is where students will engage in online learning. During this plan students will be learning virtually from home.
Our team has worked hard to develop reentry plans, based on the three learning scenarios. Attached are specific details on what to expect during each plan for learning.
Classroom teacher placements will be available August 22, through parent portal, for those who have enrolled . Please be sure to complete your online registration.
In person open house will be held only for transition year students this school year. This is consistent across the district. Our incoming 3rd grade class will have open house night on September 3 from 5:00-7:00pm. Appointment times will be provided to families by the classroom teacher. Virtual open houses will be held for our 4th and 5th grade students.
We look forward to a new year with your family!
