3rd & 4th Grade
October
Week of Oct. 9-13
No school mass this week, so 4th Grade will coordinate the mass next week. Their mass is October 20. And then 3rd Grade will have the following Friday.
May I say that the 5th Grade students did a fantastic job of saying the Reading, the Responsorial Psalm and the Petitions in Spanish. Fourth and Third Grade will get their chance to show how well they can share the Good News in Spanish. The children are doing very well learning church songs in Spanish also.
I know that I am the teacher for English but Mr. Ivan helps with the pronunciation in the songs, and Mr. Anderson did a great job with the 5th graders.
Math for my group is finishing up our first few chapters. We will now start with multiplication but I ask you parents to please help your child increase their speed in addition and subtraction. Later on we will go back to adding and subtracting larger numbers.
The children know the Fact families of Add/Subtract and they will see that it happens also in Multiply/Divide families.
LANGUAGE ARTS
A wonderful suggestion came from one parent on how to help students with their Spelling words. The 3rd Graders are not familiar and used to keeping a short sheet of spelling words so I will post their word on this Newsletter at least for the 1st term. After this the children will take the responsibility of keeping it in their Agenda.
I will also indicate the date of the test.
3rd Grade: (Test this Thursday, Oct 12; because no school on Friday)
trail, sweet, dream, afraid, leave, screen, speed, seam beast, scream
follow, open, shadow, almost, coach, ghost, yellow, window, foam, glow
4th Grade: Test on Oct. 20

argue, young, truth, rescue, dew, rude, amuse, juice, tune, trust
In Handwriting/Penmanship I ask that each child keep practicing cursive. Yes, computers can easily type our work and ensure that it looks neat and is legible but beautifully handwritten letters are better received. It shows thoughtfulness.
