NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Welcome to the 2020-21 School Year!
Dear Husmann Families,
I would personally like to welcome each of you to the 2020-21 school year! As I shared in my welcome video back in July, I am extremely honored, humbled and grateful to be the next principal of Husmann School. It is an absolute honor for me to be able to work alongside all of our highly qualified and dedicated staff, our amazingly unique and talented students and all of our caring and supportive parents.
The elementary years are critical for the development of students and families and I look forward to continuing previously established partnerships as well as fostering new ones. I value an ongoing, open dialogue between the school and our families. For this reason, Mrs. Fitzgerald and I encourage anyone with feedback, questions or concerns to take the time to reach out. Together, we are going to make this school year a successful one!
I am fortunate to be blessed with two families, or "teams" as I often refer to them; one at home and one at school. I want you all to know that both are equally important to me. Just as I support and guide my own children, it is important for me to ensure we are doing the same for your children here at Husmann.
Our staff have been busy preparing for the start of school on Monday! We are all so excited to be connecting with our students again! Sure, things might look different, but know that one thing will remain the same: we will ensure that every Husmann student receives the very best education possible and that all students and their families understand they are an important part of our school.
In partnership,
Mr. Sromek
Student Attendance Notification
Husmann School uses the Blackboard notification system to alert parents of a student’s absence from school. The notification system allows the school to communicate with parents via phone, text message, and email in a timely and efficient manner.
If you receive an attendance message, please call the school’s attendance line at 815-356-3413 as soon as possible to report your child’s absence. Failure to notify the school by noon will result in an unexcused absence.
A parent or guardian must call the school each day a student misses all or part of his/her school day. You may leave information on the attendance line voicemail system 24 hours a day to report your child’s absence.
In order to receive attendance notifications and other critical school communications, it is important that your contact information stays up-to-date in ParentVue. Should you need to make a change, please notify the school office.
We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to streamlining our process to continue to ensure the safety and well-being of your child.
Yes, it's true! The first day for our K-5 students is on Monday!
Everyone has been working really hard to kick off what is definitely going to be a school year to remember! Remote Learning 2.0 (RL2.0) for all students begins on Monday, August 24th at 8am!
Please refer to the District Website (www.d47.org) and scroll down to the heading, Important Announcements and refer to the D47 Reopening Plan and Parent FAQ.
Hopefully you have already logged into Parentvue to see which teacher your child has for this school year!
