Love Leads to Stupidity and Chaos
Hermia's Playlist By Matias Shundi
Theme
Throughout Shakespeare's play love leading to stupidity and chaos is the main theme. The characters end up doing stupid things for love and when magic interferes, things usually only end up getting worse. By the end everyone ends up with who they love, but it was not easy to get there.
Hermia is upset that her father wants her to marry Demetrius even though she doesn't like him. She instead likes Lysander but is not allowed to marry him. The connection to the theme is that when Hermia is allowed to marry who she wants could end up leading to stupid things and chaos. The sad music is something that Hermia could relate to when she was feeling that way.
Sparrow - Sad Beautiful Piano Music Calm
The idea she comes up with ends up being to run away with Lysander. She becomes happy about the plan and also gets happy about how Lysander loves her no matter what she does. Hermia could relate to the song since it talks about running away and that is what she plans to do. Chaos is coming soon.
Running away ~ Midnight Hour (Lyrics)
Hermia tells Helena that she and Lysander are going to run away together. It is simply stupid to tell someone that you are going to do something that is not allowed. It just creates a new risk of someone else finding out. The music is something that Hermia can relate to since it talks about telling secrets.
Secrets - One Republic Lyrics
Hermia gets afraid when she wakes up in the woods and can't find Lysander. She freaks out and shouts for him, but there is no response. She tries to find him, as the chaos begins. The scary music is something that Hermia can easily relate to since she is feeling scared.
Scary Creepy Piano (Spooky Instrumental Music) - Horror Piano
Hermia gets very mad at Demetrius when she finds him and accuses him of murdering Lysander. She gets even more mad when he refuses to help her find Lysander. This is chaotic and stupid, and is all caused by Hermia's love for Lysander. The angry and chaotic music is something that Hermia would easily be able to relate to as she freaks out during this moment.
Furious Angel (Instrumental)
When Hermia finds out that Lysander now loves Helena she gets upset and confused. Helena keeps accusing her, Demetrius, and Lysander of insulting her, and Hermia gets more confused. This is only a little chaotic but still shows that with magic interfering everything is getting ruined. The music is something that Hermia would listen to since it says that everything is going to be alright.
"Every little thing gonna be all right" (Bob Marley)
Lysander tells Hermia that he hates her and that he never wants to see her again, she gets sad. Lysander is harsh and shows that he doesn't care about her anymore. This is a little chaotic but also kind of stupid since what Lysander is telling Hermia wouldn't be true if magic hadn't interfered. Also, Hermia wouldn't have been as offended as she was if she hadn't loved Lysander as much. The music is something that Hermia would listen to at this time since it talks about letting someone go and it seems like that is what she is going to have to do with Lysander.

Hermia, Demetrius, Lysander, and Helena all become confused after the incident and think that they are dreaming or just had a weird dream. After magic interfered with what had already resulted from love, this is what happens. It may not be chaotic but a bunch of confused people isn't a good thing. The music talks about getting confused and the characters are able to relate to it.
Hadar - Confusing Me (Original Song)
