Important Announcements and Reminders
- Friday, January 15 is a half day; 11:00am dismissal

Language Arts
- Students continue to make great progress on Achieve 3000. They will complete 1-2 articles next week.
- Please continue to encourage reading at home! Most students are making excellent progress with the 40 Book Challenge! I am really enjoying conferencing with all of the students and hearing about the books they are reading.
- Our next major writing piece will be an Opinion Essay. We will begin taking a closer look at Opinion writing next week.
Social Studies
- We have been studying Chapter 6 this week with our main focus being on Roanoke, Jamestown, and Plymouth. We will continue to work on Chapter 6 next week and will wrap up the chapter with a test on Friday.
Science
We have started our unit on the Solar System and its components. We've focused on both the Inner and Outer Planets this week. Students will be having a Summative Quiz next week over information from our textbook. ALL of this is also posted on Blackboard.
Students also have been completing a moon calendar each day to start class.
AdvMath 6th Grade (Block A)
Students have been reviewing this week on how to turn decimals to fractions/mixed numbers and fractions/mixed numbers back to decimals.
Next week we are going to focus on word problems while reviewing past concepts. We will also start to introduce a lot of geometry vocabulary.
100 minutes of VMath is due Sunday night @ midnight. This will be entered into the gradebook as a FORMATIVE grade (10% of one's overall grade).
Regular Math BLOCK B
Students have been working in a Chapter 9 Fraction Packet on how to add/subtract fractions all week long. Students will be turning this in early next week for a SUMMATIVE grade. Kids are doing very well!
