Newsletter Week 1, Term 4
Huirangi Primary School, Monday 18th October 2021
Kia Ora Koutou, Hello Everyone!
I trust you all had a lovely break and are ready to start our last term of the year! The two week break was an enjoyable one in our household, catching up on gardening and spending time with family.
We are looking forward to term 4, which is a nine week term. It is an especially important term for our Year 6's as they prepare to move onto the next stage of their learning journey.
There will be some questions around COVID-19, and events that parents and whānau can attend. The landscape is continually shifting here, but I can assure you that every decision we make as a school will consider the health and safety of our children, our staff and our community.
Below is our latest information from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education. They are our ONLY sources of information.
Because education providers must now be vaccinated by 1st January 2022, this is not a conversation we need to have. Only vaccinated staff and support personnel will have contact with children and students.
Schools are now required to maintain a COVID-19 vaccination register. From 1 January 2022 education services must only allow those that are fully vaccinated to provide onsite services.
What about school drop-off and pick up?
- This will occur the same as it currently does here at Huirangi-outside the school gates, face coverings worn when parents are out of their vehicles and physical distancing retained.
- Parents and whānau are not required to be vaccinated or tested in order to pick up or drop children off.
Let's control what we can control, look for the best in everyone and from everyone.
The remainder of the year is what we make of it. Let's make it great! Please contact me if you have any concerns.
Remember next week is a short week, with Labour Day on Monday. School will be closed.
Ngā mihi nui,
Natalie Looney
Principal
I am (SO) worth it!
Thank you Tu Tama Wahine for your generous donation to our school. We look forward to using it to reinforce mental wellbeing for all tamariki at Huirangi.

Huirangi Pets Day 2021 - Tuesday 26th October
Calves will be tied up next to the child's 'name plate' in the appropriate farm area. This is to keep calves from different farms away from each other [Mico Plasma Bovis regulations]
Lambs will be tied up by the swimming pool, next to the child's 'name plate.
Judging will start at 10am and calves and lambs will be judged simultaneously.
This year there won't be a 'Grand Parade'
Please Note: ONLY ONE adult per child please on this day, and all animals are to be taken home as soon as the prizegiving ceremony is over. Please remember to sign in at the gate and wear your mask at all times.
Children with animals do not have to come into school first that morning, just come along at 9.45am with their animal.
All other children come to class as usual. If your child is going to be late on this day, for any reason, please drop them off at the letterbox and they can walk up the driveway and into class. After 9am there will not be any entry to school in the usual drop off gate.
Please contact school if you require any clarification !!
