Ott's Outlook

April 2019

Spring is here and it has been a busy month across the district! Hopefully, you have noticed that our website has a new look. This “refresh” was largely cosmetic and should not effect the overall navigation of the site.

A couple of new features to point out that you will find at the very top of the website homepage:

· Social media buttons for quick access to our communication channels.

· Search feature—magnifying glass icon allows you to search the site for specific information.

· Google translator—the content of the site can be translated into any of the 100+ language options provided. Attachments such as PDF files, however, are not auto-translated.

Another new feature link located the blue menu bar in the center of the screen is “Keep TISD Safe.” This is a new process that will streamline how we are able to report and respond to different safety concerns.

At the bottom of the homepage, we have a new calendar that will feature upcoming district events. If you click on “show all events”, you will be directed to a calendar page that gives you options to click on any of our campus calendars and both the Athletics and Fine Arts calendars. You can still access the Fine Arts and Athletics calendars by clicking on the “Calendars” button under the “Families” tab.

Perhaps the most impactful change is how the site looks and operates on a mobile device. It almost has the look and feel of an app now and is easy to navigate.

We hope you enjoy this latest refresh and we will continue to work to streamline and update our site in the future to meet the needs of our staff, students, families, and community! Click HERE to visit our website.

TEF All-Star Pins are a great way to honor Temple ISD staff members. Please consider supporting our employees and the Temple Education Foundation through this campaign by clicking on the link below. The campaign kicks off on April 1st!

  • Kennedy-Powell Elementary was named a 2018 PLTW Distinguished School for excellence in implementing the Launch program. This is the second year in a row they have earned this designation.
  • THS One-Act Play has won the District Championship for 27 years in a row. They truly set the standard!
  • Two THS Seniors were selected as KWTX Classroom Champions--Gunnar Coley & Nathan Garcia. Another example of how our students excel both on the field and in the classroom!
  • THS Lady Wildcat Soccer made the playoffs for the first time in 6A!

...Now that you know, please share these exciting accomplishments with others!
