Spooky Sprint Spirit Day - October 12
To help get everyone excited for our Walkathon next Friday, Student Council has planned a Spooky Sprint Spirit Day on Thursday, October 12th. Each grade level has been assigned a color and during today's assembly we encouraged students to dress in that color next Thursday. The colors for our Spooky Sprint Spirit Day are as follows:
TK/Kindergarten - Red
First Grade - Orange
Second Grade - Yellow
Third Grade - Green
Fourth Grade - Blue
Fifth Grade - Purple
We can't wait to see our rainbow of spirited students next week!
TODAY'S PAWS AND PRIDE ASSEMBLY
In this week's PAWS & Pride assembly, your child learned Kimochis® Communication Key 1. This Key teaches children that when we want to get someone’s attention before speaking, it is important to say that person’s name. This alerts them to look at you. When you wait for eye contact before speaking, it increases the odds that you can listen to each other. However, sometimes calling someone’s name is not enough. A gentle Communication Tap can be helpful.
Here are the three communication habits your child learned:
1. Call the person by name.
2. Wait for eye contact before speaking.
3. Use a Commutation Tap (gentle tap on the shoulder 2 or 3 times) to get attention.
Kimochis® Family Challenge: Make it a point to call family members by name and wait for eye
contact before speaking. Maintain eye contact when a family member is speaking with you.
Appreciate family members as they practice calling your name and waiting for eye contact before
speaking. These communication habits improve relationships and keep connections positive.

Mileage Club Update and Volunteers Needed
Clay Update
Thank you to everyone that has signed up to lead and help with Clay for your classroom this year. We have a few important updates and requests.
- We need more volunteers to help with clay projects for their respective classes. Please speak to your classroom clay lead or your room parent.
- We need people to take over the program from our Clay Leads, Gomathi and Brandie for next school year. We would like to have a few parents who are interested shadow them this school year to understand fully what is involved as the school clay leads. The program may not be able to run next school year without new leads to take over from us.
- All new clay volunteers can come and observe a clay project to see a project from start to finish. The clay project schedule is posted on the calendar in the clay room.
- Please reach out to Gomathi or Brandie with any questions.
