DECEMBER HUSKIE HOWL
NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello SBE Families!
Thank you so much for the Thankful thoughts for our SBE staff. Everyone appreciated hearing all the wonderful things they do to help your children.
The holidays are a special time of year for all of us! However, the school break, holiday gatherings and gifts can bring added stress and anxiety to our lives. Here are a few tips to get through this season.
1. Keep a routine: try to keep a schedule similar to your normal routine.
2. Rest: get 8-10 hours of sleep each night.
3. Have fun! Take time to do something your family wants to do, laugh, and be silly. Here's a list of other fun and free things to do:
--Make paper snowflakes
--Bundle up and watch the stars
--Dress up in the same color and take selfies!
--Write a thank you card to your teacher
--Cuddle up with a good book
--If it snows, build a snowman or snow angels

Morning Drop-Offs
Shadow Butte Elementary School wants our students to be safe at school. To ensure safety, adult supervision is provided from 8:35 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the playground, bus area and inside the school. The students are the parentsโ responsibility at all other times. If you are dropping off your child before this unsupervised time, please know that we do not have staff available to watch your child. If you can make arrangements to drop off children after 8:35, that would be greatly appreciated.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES
- If there are changes on how your children will be going home at the end of the day, those changes must be called into the office at 208-365-0877 by 3:15 pm and on Wednesdays by 1:45 pm. Please plan ahead because it disrupts the process of release time when we pull students from the bus line if they are already there.
LOST AND FOUND
Our Lost and Found is FULL! Please check with your students to see if they are missing any jackets, coats, hats, etc. Lost and Found is located in the Cafeteria.
All unclaimed Items will be removed and donated if not picked up by 2:30 on December 21st
BUILDING SAFETY
We are grateful for the Emmett District and the Board of Trustees for purchasing a security system for our front doors that is similar to the Emmett Middle School. We are still waiting to hear on when they will be installed. The company is waiting on certain parts to start the installation. In the meantime, we will be working on a more secure pick-up process for students that are going home during the day. I appreciate your support as we transition to a more secure method of picking up students. Look for more information and details in the coming weeks.
ECO WORLD DONATION BIN
Donate your gently used clothes and shoes to the Collection Bin that is located in the Southeast Corner of the Visitor Parking Lot. ECO World will be donating the items to local nonprofits. Our school will receive .04 cents per pound of the items that are donated.

Keep Toys, Valuables, and Trading Cards at Home
Please remind students that toys, trading cards like Pokemon cards and other valuables are a distraction as we are learning. Keep these items at home.
ATTENDANCE
NOTE FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE
Tis the season for Flu and Colds/RSV
But don't be too quick to brush off your child's illness as just another cold. The important thing to remember is that flu symptoms can vary from child to child (and they can change as the illness progresses), so if you suspect the flu, call the doctor. Even doctors often need a test to tell them for sure if a person has the flu or not since the symptoms can be so similar!

Please keep your child home from school if you suspect they have the flu.
Thank You,

Shadow Butte Kindness Tree
Hello Shadow Butte Families!
We have amazing students here at Shadow Butte Elementary! For Anti-Bullying week, November 14-18, we all pledged to be kind to each other by signing a leaf and adding it to our kindness tree. Here is how the tree turned out:
NOTE FROM THE LIBRARY
Thank you to all the families who participated in the book fair over fall conferences. It was successful for us in the library and we have been able to get many new books for the entire school to enjoy! Be on the look out for fun new books your student might check out!
Reminder if you student is participating in the monthly Reading Club, I ask they bring them back at the end of each month so they may pick from the prize basket and be entered in to the drawing for a new book! 5 days a week of reading is all we are asking and it is an optional program. DECEMBER READING CALENDARS: Due 12/22 before break!
