Principal Allen's Weekly Newsletter
November 18 , 2019
Dear Spicewood Elementary Parents & Community Members,
A few weeks ago I had the pleasuring of visiting Deepwood Elementary's all abilities play ground with a group of enthusiastic and compassionate Spicewood students who wanted to learn more about the process of creating a more inclusive playground. These amazing students also presented to my entire faculty about the benefits of having a playground that is accessible to all students! Just last week I listened in amazement as members of the Spicewood Student Council met with me because they wanted to support schools in Uganda. Our students are living the vision of being a caring community and taking action! I am grateful for the students at Spicewood - they make a difference!
Have a wonderful week!

CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENTS
Support Our Sister School (Anderson Mill Elementary)
The Anderson Mill Elementary Clothes Closet desperately needs boys pants! They are cleaned out of boys size 10 and have low inventory on sizes 4, 8, and 12. Most of the boys prefer the elastic waist bands/ athletic pants, but the clothes closet will take them all, as long as they are in good condition and school appropriate!
Drop off at Anderson Mill Clothes Closet portable (10610 Salt Mill Hollow) on Tuesdays 10AM -12PM. You may contact ameclothescloset@gmail.com to arrange for a drop-off time outside of normal operation hours
Thank you for supporting-you have no idea what a difference you make!
As the number of students enrolled increased, we found ourselves in desperate need of an additional counselor. Fortunately the district created a half time counselor position for Spicewood and were were able to hire Jenna Aleya. Ms. Aleya is a certified school counselor and previously served as an interim elementary school counselor in Austin ISD. Prior to serving as interim counselor, she was a self-contained elementary special education teacher working with students with Emotional Behavioral Disabilities. Ms. Aleya will be at Spicewood on Tuesdays & Thursdays (7:20AM - 3:25PM) and Fridays (7:20AM -11:30AM). We are excited to have her join the Spicewood family and happy that she will be able to collaborate with Mrs. Kentopp to support our students.
