Laptop Reminder- Please read attendance info

Laptop software:

NEISD is in the process of updating the encryption program used on all teacher laptops. Here is important information you need:

BitLocker

· BitLocker is an encryption tool for Windows. It will replace HP Protect Tools, also known as McAfee.

· Deployment date for Wednesday, Feb. 17th. The purpose of the deployment is to remove HP Protect Tools/McAfee and install BitLocker. The hard drive will be re-encrypted and you will only have to log in once when your laptop is turned on.

· On Wednesday, Feb. 17th please plan your lessons accordingly because you will not have your laptop to use instructional technology tools. If for any reason a laptop is needed, you will need to get a student laptop or Chromebook.

Backing Up Files on Your Hard Drive

· The encryption process is very hard on the laptop hard drive. There is the possibility that a hard drive could crash. It is imperative that you back up all files saved on your laptop hard drive.

· One tool to back up your files is called OneDrive.

· Directions for using OneDrive can be found at: http://intranet.int.neisd.net/HelpDesk/Newcomputersetup.htm

· Scroll down the list and look for the blue clouds.

· All files must be backed up by Tuesday, Feb. 16th. Attached to this email is also a step by step process for backing up your files.

Turning in Your Laptop

· All laptops will be turned in at the 6th grade CLC no later than 4:15pm on Tuesday, Feb. 16th. You may drop the laptop off between 3pm-4:15pm

· This is a secured room!

· Use a sticky note to label your laptop with your NAME and ROOM NUMBER. Tape the sticky note to the top of the laptop.

· Your laptop will be delivered to your room on Wednesday, Feb. 17th after the encryption process has been completed.

Attendance on Bitlocker Deployment Day

· We will complete Attendance through printed AROL on this day.

All Helpdesk Tickets and Troubleshooting

· While the tech team is at Hill MS completing the encryption process, all helpdesk tickets and other technology problems will be addressed.

· Use the Google form to submit your technology issues.

Upcoming Events

HELP OUT TEX HILL:

Dear Tex Hill Teachers,

It is that time of the year for Used Book Sale book collection. We are focusing on the reading teachers to collect books in their classrooms but the PTA would like to open it up to all teachers.

We will start collection from February 22-March 11 then again March 28-April 1.

The incentives we are offer this year are:

Teachers- $25 gift card for class that collects the most books.

Students- 1 lollipop for every 2 books brought in and 1 service hour for every 10 books brought in. (We would need the teachers to keep track of books brought in per student)

Class- ice cream party for the class that collects the most books.

We will be delivering boxes to remain in classrooms for collection on Feb. 19th.

If you have any questions please contact me at 940-794-3147 (text is best) or djrkctidwell@gmail.com

Thank you
