PACE Newsletter
Week of February 8th-12th, 2016
Dear PACE Parents,
This week in PACE we continued the Engineering and Architecture Unit. We focused on a fun design challenge. The students were asked to design and construct a chair that could hold a stuffed animal. The students worked through the engineering design process in order to prepare themselves for the task. They each designed, sketched, and built the chair made only of paper and tape.
In Research, we continued working on bibliography cards. Some students were able to start looking for answers to their research question. Next week, we will officially start taking notes!!
**If students have checked out library books, they will need to bring those to PACE for the next 2 weeks.
Thanks so much,
Meg Farley mfarley@ems-isd.net
Homework
1. Identify how you would improve your bedroom or another room in the house with a custom piece of furniture you design. Sketch or make a model.
2. Design a chair specifically for a character. Example: a chair made out of bricks for one of the three little pigs.
3. Write a paragraph about what our lives would be like with no chairs. Give at least 5 ways our lives would be different.
