Jet Streams

Why Our Winters Are So Cold

What They Are

A Jet Stream is a high altitude fast wind that blows around the Earth. Last fall, the Polar Jet repeatedly followed a route over North America, Alaska, West Canada and it finally made its way to our area. When the Polar Jet stream hit our area, it created not just a freezing fall, but an even colder winter.

Polar Closing

Jet Streams have been coming our way for a long time. We are the ones who have to deal with the extreme temperatures. Your coats and boots, and hats and gloves, won't last you long. The winters are getting colder and the Summers are getting hotter. The population of birds are decreasing and maybe that bunny in your backyard won't be there next year. The world isn't going to fix itself. You watching nature shows on TV on your couch isn't giving the world what it needs. The only thing this world needs is dreamers, and lots of them. So future engineers, scientists, biologists and more, our world needs help and you're the only ones who can save it.
