MONTESSORI RESEARCH PROJECT
Augustus H. Shaw Montessori School has agreed to assist the Riley Institute at Furman University and the Brady Education Foundation with a nationwide research study about the impact of Montessori education on children’s growth and development. Researchers are asking permission for your child to participate in the study. If you agree, a member of our team would spend 30-45 minutes with your child doing activities including naming letters, identifying pictures, and counting objects. These activities will take place twice in the 2019-20 school year, once in 2021, and a final time in 2022. We find that most children enjoy the activities. Please note that only those students entering the 3-year old program at Shaw Montessori are eligible to participate.Parents/guardians who return forms granting consent for their children to participate will be issued a $25 Amazon gift code via email. Once you affirm your child's participation in the link below, you will be prompted to enter your email address. This is necessary in order to distribute your gift code. If you have any further questions, please contact Brooke Culclasure at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Morning Care Update:
The school year has begun, and with it a few changes. As most PEER families already know, morning PEER has been eliminated. This will be the year for transitions, and we ask for the help of everyone in our Shaw community during this time.
Currently, we are able to provide assistance to those families that have a need for an early drop off by opening at 7:15 AM. In order to have a secure campus, the gates to campus will remain closed. The children will wait in the front office until office staff arrives at 7:45 AM. At that time, we will move the children to the cafeteria to eat breakfast.
If your child arrives prior to 8:05 AM they will need to enter campus through the school office. At 8:05 AM the gate beside the office will be opened and supervised by a staff member. This gate will remain open until 8:35 when school starts.
If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

UPDATE: FREE/REDUCED MEALS PROGRAM
Update 2019-2020 income applications needed:
Providing meals to children is a growing challenge and requires our taking advantage of all available funding resources. One of these resources is the reimbursement program for free and reduced-price meal benefits from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). So that we can keep our costs low and provide excellent food service for children, we need some information for USDA reimbursement purposes. Your cooperation is appreciated. Please answer all questions on the income application form. An income application which does not contain the requested information cannot be processed by the school.
NEW ONLINE MEAL APPLICATIONS: TITAN SCHOOL SOLUTIONS
Phoenix Elementary School district has begun utilizing a new system to submit meal applications. From your web browser, please visit the following site and follow prompts: www.family.titank12.com
