Welcome Back, Huskies!
Dear Hearne Elementary School Students and Families,
It is with great honor and joy that I introduce myself, Mrs. Johanna Sanchez, as the new Principal of Hearne Elementary School. I am grateful to have been selected to join the Hearne Family. Over the past decade, I have worked as a teacher, instructional coach, administrator, and national trainer. In each of my roles, I have sought to reinforce the success of students and school community members, as it is my priority that all students are afforded the quality education they deserve, from loving and nurturing staff members who feel appreciated and valued.
I am not only excited to begin working with you, I am also looking forward to the work we will do together. I believe in servant leadership, integrity, respect, citizenship, and resiliency. My goal this school year is to ensure students are safe and enjoy their learning environment, while simultaneously celebrating the dedicated staff members who support the growth of each student academically and socio-emotionally.
Hearne Elementary School has a long, proud tradition of academic success grounded in a family atmosphere. Working together, I am confident we will be able to build upon this history and, in the process, provide the exemplary education our Alief students deserve. With a humbled heart, I am proud to join the Hearne Husky Family and work alongside an amazing group of students, parents, and educational professionals who are committed to making the world a better place, one community at a time. I look forward, with eager anticipation, to the fabulous feats we will accomplish for the 2017-2018 school year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Johanna Sanchez

PK Updates
Dear Hearne Pre-K Parents,
Thank you for being so patient during our morning dismissal time. After practicing our procedures for the first 2 weeks of school, we have decided that it’s better and safer for our students if we change morning dismissal to the front of the school.
Starting on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, please pull around to the front of the school to pick up your student. We will start dismissing at 11:25 AM. Students should be picked up no later than 11:35 AM each day.
Students that are not picked up by 11:35 AM will be sent to the front office. You will then have to park and come sign them out.
Thank you again for all your patience and understanding.
Afternoon PK arrival will begin at 11:45 AM in the gym.
Thank you again for all your patience and understanding.
-Your Pre-K Team.
Bus Riders will use a SMART Tag!
In just three easy steps, you and your child can have peace of mind knowing that they are safe and sound on their way to and from school. The SMART Tag electronic bus transportation system ensures that students get on the right bus and get off at the right stop.
SMARTER AND SAFER BUS TRANSPORTATION
- Students are issued new school ID cards with an electronic chip SMART sensor
- School busses are equipped with a SMART Tag reader that riders swipe when loading and unloading
- The tablet will display whether the rider is boarding the correct bus or getting off at the right stop
- Parents and guardians can sign up for SMART Alerts via text to notify them that their child boarded the bus or exited at the correct stop
- Access to the Parent Portal allows you to view a real time map with GPS tracking

A parent will be notified. Repeat offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
