Principal's Message
September 11, 2020
Hello Willink Families,
I hope our students enjoyed their first days of school as much as our faculty and staff did! I want to thank all of our families for showing your flexibility and patience as we work through new traffic patterns, new apps, and complicated new schedules. We will continue to monitor and adjust as we go forward, always keeping our baseline of health and safety.
I want to share two observations from the first two days with students in the building. Mrs. Hurley, one of our red house counselors and local superheros, just shared them with me and I can’t agree more.
1 - Students are making eye contact! I don’t know if it’s the masks or the cross-house schedules but our middle schoolers are making eye contact during conversations that we haven’t seen so widespread before. I hope this is a new habit we can carry with us long after we’re through the current situation.
2 - Students are talking to each other! In lunches this week, we observed an absence of chromebooks and the presence of students striking up conversations with peers they did not necessarily know. We overheard conversations about how to find your way around school, how people were feeling about all the new procedures, etc. It seems our shared experiences over the last 6 months are showing another unexpected benefit - we’re seeing more students seeking each other's conversation and community. Again, I hope this new habit is something we can help them carry on long after this is behind us.
Thank you, Mrs. Hurley, for taking the time to share this with me today because I completely agree!
We look forward to seeing our Group 1 students back on Monday, Group 2 students on Tuesday, and our virtual students as they rotate through their synchronous and asynchronous learning. (Monday is a B1 Day, Tuesday a B 2).
Please keep scrolling for our important documents and information. One FAQ that came up this week was how a hybrid student should check in for attendance on at home days. Please CLICK HERE for screenshots of this process.
Have a safe, happy, and healthy weekend.

Schedule Exception Days
Some weeks with a day off this year, such as Columbus Day, will have school in person at school on the Wednesday of that week. This day is a schedule exception and students do not follow the regular Wednesday mini schedule but instead follow the schedule in person at school for the Letter and Number in the Rotation. For example: If the day is A1, all students follow the A day schedule. Hybrid Group 1 students attend school and Remote students remotely attend periods 1, 3, 5, & 7. The days when this will happen are:
10/7/2020, 10/14/2020, 1/20/2021, 1/27/2021, 6/2/2021, & 6/16/2021 (Middle School).
September 28 ~ Group 1 in person Monday and Thursday
September 29 ~ Group 2 in person Tuesday and Friday
September 30 ~ 100% Remote (Use the above link to order. You will receive a signup genius in a separate email).
