Principal Update
Week of October 23, 2017
Let's be elite in our 20 feet!
Good Afternoon,
It's hard to believe it's the last full week of October. Let's continue to strive for excellence as we focus on teaching and learning.
To reach our school goals, it is imperative that you are here as much as possible. Please make appointments after 2:30 p.m. when possible. The quality of instruction students receive when you are here is so much more impactful than when students have a substitute. Thank you for all you do!
Upcoming Events
PBIS Recognition Assemblies on Thursday, Oct. 26th and Friday, Oct. 27th. Please refer to the Week at a Glance for grade level times. If you have not called parents to invite them to be a part of their child's recognition, please do so today. This supports our School Renewal Plan goal of increasing the percentage of parents who indicate their child's teacher has contact them to say positive comments about their child.
Enrichment/RTI
We will begin the Enrichment/RTI times on Monday, October 31st. This time is to be used for RTI for individual students.
Reminders
Learning Essentials
Remember to teach and reteach essentials but students are responsible for knowing all of the grade level standards.

Technology forms and Individual Student Reports (ISR) will go home with 4th and 5th graders in report cards on November 1st.

Shout Outs
Math Day
Thank you to Kimenya for coordinating our Math Day for parents and guardians last Wednesday! The event was well attended and the parents/guardians really appreciated the effort it took to have Math Day.
A special thank you to Michele Montgomery, Hope Brazil, Tara Gilmore, Brittney Linn, Sanya Dozier, Deborah Redmond, and Rose Cavagnaro for hosting parents and guardians on Math Day. I heard very positive comments about the observations.
Thank you to the supporting cast for Math Day:
Lisa Taylor, Niggel Biggers, Kelli Ferment, Jill Pappas, Trekeelia Simon and Dina Genco.
Thank you Dy, Trey, Mary Catherine, and Cynthia Blakely for helping to cover classrooms when we did not have substitutes.
SLO/GBE
The deadline for the initial conference in Friday, October 27th. Your GBE goal should support your individual growth and your SLO. Your SLO should be based on student achievement in math.
Educators Handbook
Please indicate in your referral if it is a minor or major. Teachers will assign the consequence for minors and an administrator will assign the consequence for majors. Remember to contact parents when you assign a consequence for a minor.
PTO
Our PTO has given each grade level $250.00 to support field studies. Mrs. Olney has deposited the funds into the school field studies account. Please let Mr. Hayes and Mrs. Adams know about field studies that you plan for your students. If it is appropriate for a student in their classrooms to attend, we will send an instructional assistant with the student (s).
Our PTO meets the third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
Professional Development
Naomi Morgan is conducting ENRICH ASSESS training sessions teachers, counselors, interventionists and any other individuals who would benefit from using the database. This system, much like the old TestView database, will give teachers access to student level data and will allow them to create a variety of different reports. Please remind teachers about the opportunity and encourage them to sign-up in My Learning Plan. Please take advantage of this opportunity to delve deeper into your individual and grade level data.
