What is happening at South Meadow!
Student Advisories and Class Schedules
Class schedules and Advisories will be live on PowerSchool on August 23rd after 8am.
Please log onto https://conval.powerschool.com/public/ to view your student's schedule, school counselor, and schedule.
You can expect grade level welcome letters by August 26th at the latest. The welcome letters will include supply lists and first day expectations.

September 6 - No School (Labor Day)
October 5 - Open House (time TBD)
October 11 - No School (Professional Development Day)

SMS Bus Information
The SMS Sportscenter!
As of now, we are planning on having fall sports and co-curriculars up and running in the fall.

The following sports are available this fall:
- Cross Country (grades 5 - 8)
- Boys Soccer (grades 6 - 8)
- Girls Soccer (grades 6 - 8)
- Field Hockey (grades 6 - 8)
- Girls Volleyball (grades 6 - 8)
Late Bus Information
There is a late bus for students at SMS. SMS late buses will arrive at SMS at 4:15 and then depart for the high school at 4:18. Buses will depart Conval High School at approximately 4:22. Information regarding our co-curricular activities will come out once the school year gets running.
Eligibility Requirements for Athletics
Participation in athletic and co-curricular activities is considered a privilege granted to students. A student's academic performance and/or behavioral performance, while in school or on school grounds, may affect their privilege to participate in such activities.
In order to participate in interscholastic teams or in other co-curricular activities, it is required that the student athlete maintains 65% or greater in all classes. The previous quarter will determine eligibility for the beginning of the current athletic season. If at any point after the season begins, the grade drops below 65% during a reporting period, the student will be ineligible for game participation until the next reporting period. The student will continue to be a member of the team, participating in practices and team events.
Any student that is absent from school (must arrive before 11:00am) will be ineligible for practice or game participation. Any student that receives disciplinary action on the day of a game or practice, will be ineligible to play that day. If a student receives disciplinary action prior to a vacation or a weekend and the disciplinary action is not completed until after the vacation or weekend, then the student is ineligible to participate in practices and games. Coaches, teachers, and administration can determine eligibility for participation in games or practices that exceed the standards of this policy.

5th Grade Orientation is going to be August 30th from 1pm to 3pm
Parking will be in-front of SMS. Overflow parking will be out back. Please come through the front entrance of SMS.
Entering the building:
The Conval School District is currently in the Green zone which requires the use of masks indoors and temperature checks. If for any reason you are not comfortable with these procedures, we would be more than happy to meet with your family outside. We will have a greeter at the door that will direct you towards the 5th grade wing. Currently masks are required at South Meadow and we will be doing temperature checks at the door.
What will happen at 5th Grade Orientation?
This is a chance for you and your student to meet the 5th grade team! Your student will also be able to see where in the building they will be located. At orientation you will have a chance to set up your parent teacher conference.
EXPANDING HORIZONS PROGRAM (EHP)
Students who have done an EHP class in the past may sign up to continue that class. The applications for this group of students are due on September 3rd, These classes are wirecast/morning announcements, peer mentors, robotics, 3D and photography/yearbook. Students who have questions please email Mrs. Brezovec (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Students new to EHP may join later in the first quarter. Applications for those students will have a due date of October 8th. Mrs. Brezovec will be talking with the students in the first few days of school about EHP and hand out applications. The classes being offered will be: simple machines, photography, wirecast/morning announcements and 3D. Students will miss one or two class periods of their regular classes for EHP. It is expected that students make up the work of the missed class. Teachers will need to sign off for the classes that the students will be missing.
