YOU DID IT!

In order for us to receive the results/report of the 5Essentials survey, we must have 20% of our parents complete the survey. And YOU DID IT! We met the goal right at 20%! BUT! 20% of our student population/families is still quite a low mark for hearing your voices. Please note that the survey is still open until March 11th and we would LOVE your input! See below for instructions on how to complete the 5Essentials Survey.

5Essentials Parent Survey

Parents/guardians: Please take a few minutes to complete the 5Essentials parent survey for our school. The survey is administered online by UChicago Impact and is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of Illinois schools. The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and is available in English and Spanish. To take the survey, visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/. Families can submit one survey for each child. The survey window will be open until March 11, 2022. Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand the conditions at our school and guide improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child. Thank you for your consideration and support!

Mr. Salas, Lead Custodian

We would like to thank our lead custodian, Mr. Salas, and the entire Hannah Beardsley custodial crew for their work in keeping our school clean and in good repair. They do a terrific job on the daily cleaning, but also on special projects like snow removal and Covid sanitizing. We appreciate all that they do each day!

Spring Assessment Season is Here

We will be conducting our Spring assessments in the coming month.

  • Fastbridge- Our local assessment is given in math and reading 3 times per year with results shared quickly. They help us to intervene on skill deficits and stretch students when they have indicated mastery. These assessments will be given March 2 and 3.
  • Illinois Assessment for Readiness- Our state-mandated tests are given in a specific time window once per year measuring growth toward learning standards in math and reading. We will be administering these assessments on March 15, 16, 17 and March 22, 23.
  • Illinois Science Assessment- This assessment is given only to our 8th graders in science and will be administered after spring break.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

Students will need earbuds or headphones to take these assessments! The assessments are computer-based with information delivered via videos or recordings. Please make sure your students have these and a FULLY CHARGED Chromebook on testing days. Thank you.

McHelp App

This week on Beardsley Live Mrs. Alberth (Principal) and Mrs. Covganka (social worker) reminded students that we have a resource available to us in McHenry County to support mental health needs. MCHELP is a free anonymous app that allows you to confidentially text or talk to a licensed mental health counselor. Trained counselors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the MCHELP App available in Google Play or the Apple Store. Often we receive emails late at night or on weekends that express a need for support and we are not able to address them until school starts the next day. Also sometimes the concern is greater than the scope of what is doable from a school perspective. So we encourage the use of this app or other resources (Crisis line/911) as another layer of support for our kids and families. Check it out! McHelp App- McHenry County Mental Health Board
