LION brings you FREE databases (digital resources) in multiple languages!
Share this slide deck with students to explore why database research provides more reliable information than a Google search and the MANY ways the databases can help them learn—through read-aloud text, translation into 100+ languages, videos and more. Print or post this English/Spanish flyer for your students and parents to become aware of these homework and reading resources.
Visit LION.dpsk12.org and then click on "online databases" to start exploring.
Amazing and FREE eBook Collection
DPS educators and students have access to our rich collection of thousands of eBooks in audiobooks in ENGLISH, SPANISH, ARABIC, CHINESE and RUSSIAN. Our Library Services team carefully curates collections to appeal to every reader—Books to Make You LOL, #1000blackgirlbooks, Graphic Novels, Read Alongs (books that read aloud while highlighting text), Latinx Authors, Spooky Thrills and Chills, Out of This World Science Fiction, and many more. And be sure to check out the Teacher’s Lounge for all of your professional learning and adult reading needs!
Literacy curriculum titles in both English and Spanish are also available in OverDrive, with Read-Alongs (both text and audio) and audiobooks. Look for the curriculum collections that begin with "Literacy..." or search for individual titles. These digital formats provide important supports for students who benefit from listening to texts, enlarging the font to view less text on a page, instant access to an online dictionary, text displayed in dyslexic font, and digital annotation tools

Instructional Technology Coaching
Ed Tech Recommends 3 Instructional Technology Tools
- Seesaw: Students explore a variety of powerful tools across all four language domains (including drawing, voice and video recording) to show what they know in a way that works for even primary students. It's also great way to communicate with students. Make sure you get parent permission - see Academic Technology Menu information above.
- Schoology: DPS' learning management tool recommended for upper elementary grades such as 4th and 5th grades. Post assignments, create discussions, have students record their thinking. DPS curriculum is housed in Schoology. Parent permissions are already in place.
- Class Dojo: Class Dojo is a great tool for positive classroom management, creating student portfolios, and communicating with students. Make sure you get parent permission - see Academic Technology Menu information above.
