Principal's Message

Tomorrow is an early dismissal day. Students will be dismissed at 12:15pm and there will be no afternoon buses.

If you have not received an invite for conferences to schedule, please reach out to your child's teacher to schedule a time for tomorrow.

October 8th is no school and October 11th is no school for students.

October 12th is School Picture Day. Students may dress up for their pictures.

Preschool Corner

As we are approaching the cooler temperatures of fall, please remember to send your child in dressed appropriately for the weather. Preschool utilizes the playground/outdoor space as much as possible for gross motor time and students should have appropriate dress for cooler temperatures, including jackets.

Reminder - please provide an extra change of clothes with your child in their backpack.

Also, Thursday October 7th there will be NO preschool that day. Our preschool teachers will schedule a time to hold conferences that day and discuss your child's growth.

Reminder - The preschool schedule is:

4 Year-Old: Tuesday - Friday

3 Year-Old: Tuesday - Thursday

Morning Class: 8:30-11:30am (please try to drop off between 8:15 and 8:30am)

Afternoon Class: 12:30 - 3:30pm

Fire Prevention Day

Vermilion Fire Department stopped by today to give our students an opportunity to learn about fire prevention. Our preschool was checking out the fire truck and all of the tools they use to help when needed. They have been learning about community helpers and this was a great opportunity to make a real connection to some of our awesome community helpers.

Fundraiser Preview

Classroom Spotlight

4th grade STEM this week was working on creating powered boats. They used various materials and designs to create a boat that would float and be operational under battery power. Excited to see these designs get tested!

Covid Symptom Screening

Last year, we were able to remain in-person learning in large part due to the vigilance of our families by doing daily screenings of symptoms of children before arriving at school. The goal is to again remain in-person and pre-screening for Covid-19 symptoms prior to arriving at school is a great strategy to stay in-person. Please check daily for symptoms. If your child is not feeling well, exhibiting symptoms, and/or seem sick, please keep them home and allow them to rest and get healthy before returning to school. To return with after any Covid symptom there needs to be 24 hours symptom free without use of medication. We will make accommodations necessary to ensure your child is able to get missed work and get caught up upon returning.

What To Do If Sick?

If your family or student were exposed to a Covid-19 positive individual outside of school, please remain home and contact us. If you have any questions on symptoms, please contact your medical provider, the Erie County Health Department, and/or the school.

The minimum to return after symptoms begin - All of the following criteria must be met:

- It has been 10 days since symptoms/exposure started.

- The symptoms have improved

- Student has not had a fever for the last 24 hours (without assistance of fever-reducing medication).

- Provide a medical note clearing to return to school.

*If quarantined, please provide the return to school notice from the health department*

Spirit Wear Days

On Thursdays, students may wear spirit wear. It will be a half and half dress code day. Students may wear a St. Mary shirt (tshirt, sweatshirt, and/hoodie included as long as St. Mary’s) and uniform bottom and shoes.

We are searching for a new cafeteria manager at this time.

We are also exploring an alternative lunch option through Vermilion Local Schools. This model is similar to what other schools in our diocese utilize. However, there are numerous variables to maneuver and work out. I am hopeful this may be a long-term solution and would still afford our students the same federal lunch program opportunity. In the meantime, please send your child(ren) with a packed lunch from home. If there are any issues, please let me know so we can work with you to provide a solution.

Thank you for the continued patience and flexibility!

Tuition - FACTS

Although registration and grades moved to Gradelink, FACTS is still the online tuition management system. Tuition payments can still be made online through FACTS. If you use FACTS to pay your tuition, please setup your payment plan in FACTS.
