The regional conference of the European Youth Parliament (EYP), one of the largest political debate, intercultural dialogue and youth platforms in Europe, was hosted by Tarsus American College this year.
The 2nd Regional Conference of the European Youth Parliament, established in 1987 to bring together the prospective leaders of Europe through both national and international sessions, was successfully led by the European Youth Conference organization.
The event which took place on 21-24 October 2022 was made possible with the efforts of the EYP Club of Tarsus American College and the organizing committee, the members of which have been working intensively since the beginning of 2022.
Nearly 100 students attended the conference, which required strong skills in English.
Among the participants of the conference were academic student leaders, delegates, committee chairs and media team who came to Tarsus from schools in Austria, Greece and Turkey, being part of an unforgettable conference experience over four days.
At the parliamentary assembly held on the last day of the conference, the students presented their proposals towards a solution for various national and global problems, using different perspectives. These draft resolutions were voted on during the assembly.
At the event, which guided the student delegates in the process of looking for solutions to many different problems in Europe, TAC students learned a lot and built strong friendships. We were proud to see their success in organizing an international event as well as strong skills in English.
TAC community congratulates the students and teachers who worked in this successful event.

A Journey of Leadership
SEV American High Schools Leadership Conference, which is hosted by one of the SEV American high schools each year, aims to strengthen the bond between our schools and help our student leaders to socialize and develop their leadership skills. The event was hosted by American Collegiate Institute (ACI) in İzmir this year. The keynote speaker in the conference, which saw the participation of student council representatives from sister schools of Üsküdar American Academy (UAA), Tarsus American College (TAC) and SEV American School (SAC) was Ömür Kula (ACI'99), who addressed the audience on "Sustainable Leadership for Sustainable Success'', giving examples from her own experiences. She talked about some leadership characteristics and through the small workshops, she helped students approach the subject of leadership from different perspectives. On the second day of the conference, the "leaders of the future" had the opportunity to taste local delicacies after a cultural trip to Urla, as well as to share their experiences with students from other SEV schools.
Council for International Schools Preparatory Evaluation Visit
This week the Tarsus Schools were visited by two representatives for the Council for International Schools (CIS). Throughout the week the CIS representatives meet with different stakeholder groups, reviewed evidence and observed the schools in action. The CIS prepartory visit is an important opportunity for TAC to reflect on the strengths and opportunities for growth. Starting in the second semester, all three Tarsus Schools will begin the CIS Self Study Process where we will take a deep dive into the CIS standards. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to reflect and grow.
