Padilla Elementary School
Providing every student with the keys to open the doors of their future.
A Message from Principal Purfurst
An Update from Dean Hawkins
Safety Information:
This past week we practiced a Shelter in Place Hazmat Drill. The purpose of this drill is to be prepared if there was a chemical spill, fire or a serious crash with a semi truck outside of our building. During this drill all students will come inside if they are at recess and stay in their classrooms with the doors shut but learning does continue. We would shut the HVAC system off so that we are not bringing dangerous gasses, fumes or smoke into the building. This drill lasted five minutes and all students and staff did a great job ensuring that we followed protocols for this type of drill. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this or any of the safety drills we practice at Padilla!
Parking Lot Information:
Thank you for your help with the use of our crosswalks in front of and behind the bus lanes. We appreciate you avoiding walking through the buses in order to pick up your students.
If you are dropping students off in the morning through the “Hug and Go” lane, we need you to pull forward as far as you can before you let your student out of your vehicle. Please stay in the hug and go lane when dropping off your student, if possible please have your student exit the passenger side of your vehicle and please stay in your car as this helps keep vehicles moving in an orderly fashion.
Community Survey: If you haven’t had an opportunity to share with us your thoughts about how we can involve our Padilla Community more, we encourage you to take some time to fill out our very quick survey. Survey Link Here
Donuts with Parents:
Thank you to those that have had a chance to fill the survey out! We have taken some of your feedback and started our inaugural “Donuts with Parents” session that will occur October 5th. This session will include our 5th grade teachers and is open to any community member (we are hoping to keep this to the adult community members) that would like to get to know our wonderful fifth grade teachers and other Padilla community members better in a more relaxed setting. We will be meeting in the library from 7:30-7:50 during our soft start. Parents are more than welcome to stay longer but teachers will be leaving to return to their classrooms at 7:50. Students will be in class and will not be joining us during this time. We will continue these Donut Sessions monthly with our fourth grade teachers meeting our community members in November.
