4K Parent Update
November 2022
NOVEMBER NEWS
Having just completed the 50th day of 4K, it is a reminder of just how quickly the year is going! The second unit, “The World Around Me!” will be wrapping up soon. During this unit, 4K students learned more about my friends and me, how families are unique, and their five senses with an emphasis on Fall.

LOOKING AHEAD
In December, your student will be introduced to a new theme, “Digging Down and Building Up.” This unit will help build upon four-year-olds’ natural ability to use their creativity and imagination to learn through play. Here are the significant parts of this thematic unit:
Imaginative play:
archaeologist, architect (building and drawing)
mechanics of building
Taking things apart and putting together
Physics
Composition and decomposition of geometric shapes
LEARNING INTENTIONS AND PROGRESS REPORTS
Progress Reports will be sent to parents via email on December 9th. These progress reports are a way for your child’s teacher to highlight strengths and progress being made towards the standards outlined in the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS). The learning intentions outlined in the September and October 4K Parent Updates will also be used to report student progress.
As stated above, beginning in December, we will start a new unit, Digging Down and Building Up. Below are the learning intentions for this unit.POPPING INTO PARENTING
