Principal's Letter
Prairie Point Families:
For me, today was one of the most fun days of the year! I spent the morning subbing in Mrs. Niles’ class. Having taught 4th grade before, I was excited to spend the day with our 4th graders. I was not disappointed and I was most definitely impressed. I was completely blown away by our subject knowledge, their ability to explain their learning and their enthusiasm for sharing their thoughts and ideas. What a great way to end the week.
We are heading into our final week of IAR testing. Our 3rd graders are finishing up ELA IAR testing and our 5th graders will be finishing their ISA science testing next week. Mrs. Fahey is working hard with teachers to administer any make-up testing sessions. Thank you so much for supporting you child and encouraging them to do their best on these state tests.
Next week is a very special week at Prairie Point, as we will be celebrating our teachers! May 3rd - May 7th is Teacher Appreciation Week. I am so grateful for the work that our teachers and staff do each and every day at Prairie Point. This school community is special and we are so lucky to have the best faculty and staff working with our students! I know that you will be joining me in acknowledging their hard work and dedication throughout this school year.
Every year at about this time, we begin inventorying our materials. This year we are tasked with not only inventorying the materials that we used during the 2020-21 school year, but also going back and accounting for the materials that were used in the 2019-20 school year. It is really important that we have all school materials returned to the building as soon as possible. We still have a number of library books, ELA books and other classroom materials that were not returned at the end of last year. If you have Prairie Point materials at your house, please send them back to school. You are welcome to send them in your child’s backpack or drop them off on the table that we have set up in the entryway.
As always, Mrs. Fahey and I are here to help. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of us. I hope that you have a fantastic weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jennifer Groves

May ART is sure to please all ages. From celebrating Mother's Day with a bouquet of spring blooms, exploring space, finding look-a-like pets/people and playing a game of paddle board, let's continue to work together to keep the kids connected to ART and to each other, virtually. Parents, please don't think of this as more remote screen time. The kids who have been drawing me with virtually already know that this is FUN creative time! Through drawing, we wake up our imaginations. We un-mute. We tell stories about our weekly pictures. We get silly and meet new ART friends. To my current ART'mates, THANK YOU for your continued loyalty to me and to ART. I am super excited to draw more amazing pictures with you in MAY. You can find the direct registration links below. If your family hasn't drawn with me virtually yet, try one class first. Your child will thank you and I will too. Only $8/class. Siblings (and adults) living in the same household draw with me for free. Choose your preferred day and time below. Zoom link will land in your inbox 30 minutes before drawing time. COME DRAW WITH ME. Artfully yours, MRS. G Youth Drawing Director Young Rembrandts Southwest Suburbs (815) 242-2259 May DRAWING CLUB REGISTRATION LINKS:
