Wax Museum
The 3rd and 4th grade students, along with Mrs. Shepherd’s students have been
working hard on researching famous Michiganders. They have been
rehearsing their presentation and Michigan songs during Music Class. They
will be sharing their “MICHIGAN WAX MUSEUM” performance on
THURSDAY, MAY 5 from 2:00-3:15 P.M. in the cafeteria. Each of the
students will have a chair set up around the perimeter of the cafeteria. This
will be their “booth”. As different classes and parents arrive, the guests will
walk around and visit the different “booths” to hear about the famous people
from Michigan. Approximately every 10 minutes or so, we will stop and have
a ‘flash singing’ of one of our Michigan songs. Guests are not expected to stay
for the entire 1hour -15minutes and may come and go as their schedule
permits. It should be a fun and interesting afternoon for all. We hope you can
attend and have the opportunity to learn a little more about our famous
Michiganders!

Patterson Artist
Congratulations to artist Olivia Benavides who won first place in the state level of My Green School Art Contest sponsored by the Detroit Green Council. Olivia's work is on it's way to Lansing to be displayed at the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Fair in June.
Artists were honored on Friday evening with a dinner and awards ceremony in Rochester as a part of the council's Earth Day Festival.
Art Exhibit and Empty Bowl Event
Our Empty Bowls Event raised $2,567.35 for Blessings in a Backpack-Holly. The art educators want to thank our supporters for providing delicious treats--Bittersweet Cafe, Crust, Cupcakes and Kisses, Holly Donut Shop, Kroger of Clarkson, Subway of Holly and the parents and staff of our elementary schools.
We are also grateful for our talented students who created the handmade bowls and students who volunteered by setting up, hosting, painting faces, and playing the ukulele.
Finally, we appreciate the students, parents, community and staff who generously donated to the Empty Bowls event and ultimately, Blessings in a Backpack.
Thank you!

Playground Update:
At our last meeting the committee decided to go with Miracle Recreation Equipment for the NEW PLAYGROUND at Patterson Elementary. It will take a couple weeks for the company to draw some plans as we are making design changes. The NEW PLAYGROUND will be something similar to the Mega Tower at the bottom of page 57 see link for picture http://www.miracle-recreation.com/zmag/2016-miracle-product-catalog/. Once we agree on the design and color of the NEW PLAYGROUND it will be ordered no later than the first of July. We are planning to have a three day build near the end of August. Volunteers will be needed.
Here is a list of items still in need for the build hence the reason we are fundraising to 50K see GoFundMehttps://www.gofundme.com/kd7j9rpc to donate. If you have a contact interested in donating equipment, cement or wood chips please contact us at hollyteampatterson@gmail.com. The NEW PLAYGROUND will be ready for the 2016 – 2017 school year. Once again THANK YOU for all the support!!
