Outside Recess Policy-From the Elementary Handbook
All students will go outside unless the temperature is deemed too cold by a combined temperature and wind chill of 20 or below, or it is raining. Please make sure your child dresses for the weather. If a student needs to stay indoors due to an illness, a doctor’s note is required. Please remember winter weight coats, hats, and gloves for your child. *Individual buildings may choose to keep students inside above 20 degrees at the discretion of the building Principal or designee based on the scheduled length of time of the outside recess, age of the students, and condition of the playground.
Notes from the Nurse
Don’t let your health get tricked this Halloween! Here are a few ways to stay safe and healthy: (courtesy of www.cdc.gov)
- Carve out time to be active this Halloween - go trick-or-treating in the neighborhood, or take a walk to help you feel good!
- Eat Well. Don’t spend this Halloween filling up on junk food and sweets. Give yourself healthier choices and nutritious treats.
- Keep You and Your Family's Bite Healthy. Keep Halloween candy at bay. Brush with a fluoride toothpaste at least twice a day.
- Play it Safe. Take precautions to stay safe while trick-or-treating on Halloween night. Watch out for cars, use reflective gear, walk with a group, and carry a flash light.
- Don't Be a Zombie. Sleep is important - even on Halloween! Get 10-11 hours each night.
There’s still time to sign your child up for the in-school dental care on Friday November 15th…. CLICK HERE
