MA Update
The end of the year is coming fast.
CONGRATS GRADS!
This year's graduations will be held Sunday, June 4th.
Graduation will be here at the school outside, weather permitting, on the stage by the playground.
- Kindergarten Graduation is at noon.
- High School Graduation starts at 2:00pm.
Come celebrate with us.
Spring is also Testing Season.
Spring testing is well under way…Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies. In April, students in grades 3 through 11 were able to “show what they know and can do” on the PSAT, SAT, ACT WorkKeys, and M-STEP state assessments. Test score reports should be available this summer and fall. For information on how to read your child’s report, check out the Guide to Parent Reports found on the Michigan Department of Education website.
Additionally, students in kindergarten through 8th grades are currently taking the NWEA MAP test. This assessment is our “district” test and is administered in the fall, winter, and spring of each school year. It allows us to see the progress our students have made over time in the areas of reading and math. Classrooms who meet their projected growth goals will have an ice cream party, and individual students who reach their personal goal will receive an MA goal t-shirt that can be worn every Wednesday.
All spring testing will wrap up in the next couple of weeks. We are excited to see the amount of growth that has taken place this year, and are looking forward to celebrating that with our students.
Prom is in the air.
M. A. had
Prom by the Sea

Students in grades 9th-12th were invited and able to bring guests
Field Day. Let's Celebrate!
Field Day will be on Thursday,
June 1st, from 12:15-2:30
Field day is a special tradition here at MA. We finally get a chance to just play for the sake of fun. It's always a great time for students to have a good time while challenging themselves.
There will be roughly 10 stations outside near the playground and around the bowl. Several high school students will be volunteering, but we are looking for parent volunteers. Please contact your classroom teacher for a volunteer packet.
The plan on field day is for classes to stay together and rotate from station to station, to keep the competition age-appropriate and somewhat organized.
Any questions, please e-mail Mrs. Young at youngm@marshallacademy.org
Report Cards are coming out!
Report Cards for Semester 2 / Quarter 4 will be printed after the last day of school.
They will be available for pickup the week of June 13th during the school's summer office hours. Any report cards not picked up in June, will be mailed home in July.
*Reminder the front office will only be open from 10am -2pm Tuesday -Thursday for the summer.
Final Exam schedule
NWEA may take over the elementary, but even middle and high school students are wrapping their year up with some final tests.
- High School Final Exams are cumulative for Semester 2. Exams are 20% of the semester grade in classes that grant a high school credit.
- Middle School "Exams" are end of the year assessments that will only count as a test grade.
- All students that will be taking exams (grades 6th-12th) will have a half day, leaving at 11:30.
- Both bus routes will leave the building with middle school and high school students at 11:30.
- Elementary will not have exams and will have a full day both Wednesday May 31st and Thursday, June 1st.
Middle School Exams
This year middle school students will be dismissing at 11:30
with the high school students during exams.
- Middle school student have taken exams in the past but always had to stay the full day.
- Middle school students will be taking exams in both Math and English classes.
- Our 8th graders will also be taking an exam in Earth Science because they will be earing a high school credit for that class.
*Our busses will run both routes to Albion and Marshall/Battle Creek at 11:30 and then again at 3:00pm.
It's time to LEVEL UP
Each year we take a little time to get our students ready for the next level.
Our classes will move up, meet their teachers and get comfortable in next year's classrooms.
On May 22nd for the second half of the day
all classes from Pre-K through the 8th grade
will be moving up to their next year's classroom.
Students will get comfortable with their next year's teacher in a variety of different ways including:
- Team-building and class-building activities
- Add them to your classroom online accounts for summer practice opportunities
- Filling out a get to know you sheet and presenting them
- Science and Math labs
We are a small school with a family feel. Getting to know our students earlier builds those relationships earlier and we all know relationships matter for M.A.
Reminder: NO SCHOOL Memorial Day MONDAY, May 29th
Locker Clean-out and Backpacks
Middle school and High school will clean out their lockers and bring home all their belongings on Friday, May 26th.

- Friday the 12th was MAPSA's (the link is the home page for MAPSA) social media take over.
- Please check out MAPSA's (the link is to MAPSA Instagram page) Instagram page to show your support. If you are following along closely you will see one of our very own staff members in the spotlight. you will see
