IMPORTANT UPDATE - Lakeridge High School has Postponed Halloween Night - Please see the message below

Hello again! This is Julianne Arluna, junior class representative.

It has come to the schools attention that a Lakeridge student has recently tested positive for COVID-19. Although this individual only had limited contact with a small number of our volunteers, those few who were potentially at risk are now getting tested.

Lakeridge High School is taking serious precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, for we value the health of our community above all else. It is for this reason that we have made the difficult decision to postpone the drive-thru event until November. We hope that this postponement will grant us time to ensure that the drive-thru will be as safe as possible.

We would greatly appreciate if you could share this information with your school. Thank you so much!

Principal's Message

Dear Hallinan Families,

My favorite part of each day is popping into classrooms and learning new things! This week, I had fun visiting classes and seeing students and staff so happy wearing Hallinan spirit wear, displaying beautiful artwork and learning about each other's uniqueness. Please see a few photos from Spirit Week below.

In this year of distance learning, we know families want and need to connect with each other. The online directory is always available and free to all Hallinan families. You can search for families by name or teacher. Please visit www.hallinanpto.membershiptoolkit.com. You will need to log in and then hit the Directory option.

Enjoy the beautiful fall weekend!

Mystery Science Supplies

If you are unable to purchase science supplies, or have limited access, we have a limited amount of supplies that are available to you from the Lake Oswego School District. This is based on need, not convenience. The bags will contain all of the materials needed for the lab work in the next Mystery Science unit.

Please fill out this form. Select the school and grade level for your student. Supply bags can be picked up at Westridge as Hallinan is still under construction. Office staff will help you to get your lab supplies. No names or email addresses will be collected in this request form.

Hallinan ❤️ a Cookbook!

We are creating the Hallinan 2020 Cookbook and we need your help! It will include recipes submitted by our families AND staff. We encourage all our families to submit a favorite recipe and either artwork from your Hallinan student or a photo of your student in the kitchen creating a culinary delight. All recipes submitted by the deadline will be included. The cookbook will be available for purchase (and makes a great gift!), with all proceeds going to the Hallinan PTO to support ongoing sponsored programs. Please send all submissions, artwork and photos in simple text format to Jessie Harbison at jessamyn2007@gmail.com by November 18. Information on ordering the cookbook will be available soon!

Hallinan Book Club

Does your child like to read? Hallinan is offering a book club to Grades 3-5. Each grade will meet separately via Zoom. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to enhance your child’s love of reading and connection with their peers by signing up here. More details will come in the next couple weeks.

Room Parents Needed!

Although room parenting looks different this year, it is still a very important job! We are seeking one room parent per cohort. Please see the SUG here for a full description and to sign up.

iReady Results

Math and Language arts teachers will be reviewing the results at conferences. This baseline data is a helpful tool to guide teacher's instruction and meet student's needs.

Keep in mind that this is a baseline data point and we will have more valuable information when your child participates in the assessments again in the winter and spring. There are many variables to consider as you review these results, including this is our first time using iReady and administering assessments at home.

If you have any questions related to the Talented and Gifted program at LOSD, please reach out to Mr. Ernst, our building coordinator. Additionally, we are excited to have Jack Andrews serving as the Hallinan representative for the TAG Advisory Committee this year. Both would be happy to field any questions you may have, or direct you to where you can find additional support.

Foundation Hosting Virtual New Family Coffees

The Lake Oswego Schools Foundation is keeping its tradition of hosting new families coffees, albeit virtually this year!

Parents and guardians who are new to the district are invited to join other new families, your principal and school Foundation board representatives for coffees hosted for each school community. Click the link below for your school to RSVP.

Hallinan Elementary community, Tuesday, Nov. 10, 10-11 a.m.

Everyone who attends the virtual coffee will receive a free Chuck's Coffee card (located at Chuckie Pies in downtown Lake Oswego) - a Lake Oswego institution and community gathering spot.

The Lake Oswego Schools Foundation is an independent non-profit whose sole mission is to provide more teachers for students, equitably. To find out more, visit www.losfoundation.org or contact Whitney Woolf, 503-534-2106 woolfw@loswego.k12.or.us.

Hallinan Renovation Update

The Hallinan Elementary Renovation Project will bring significant improvements to the forty-year-old facility, including upgrades in safety and security, technology and seismic and infrastructure. Click here for more information.

I am so happy to be back at Hallinan! Below is a photo of me in front of what I like to call the "candy wall" - the colorful tiled wall behind the 3rd-5th grade wash station. Our new restrooms are beautiful and efficient - they feature touchless faucets and automatic flush toilets.
