KES Family Newsletter
Welcome Back Edition
Off to a Great Start!
Two weeks are in the books for the 2023-2024 school year. It has been fantastic to have all our students back in the building! We have started forming great relationships between teachers and students, practiced our classroom routines and procedures, and reviewed our behavior expectations around the building with our annual Expectations Day. Even after a great start, we know the best is yet to come. Keep reading these family newsletters throughout the school year to learn about other exciting events and information!
Cardinal Kickoff
Thank you to all our families for attending our new Cardinal Kickoff. We hope you enjoyed your experience and were able to gain valuable information regarding your student's upcoming school year. We value your feedback, and would love to hear your thoughts. Please take the time to fill out this brief Cardinal Kickoff Survey so we can make necessary changes to improve the event for next year!
If you weren't able to attend our Cardinal Kickoff event, we'd still like you to have access to all the information shared by our teachers. Below, you will find links to each of our grade level presentations from Cardinal Kickoff, as well as a video from Mr. C regarding attendance/pick-up and drop-off/Remind messaging expectations.
Transportation
We have been hard at work updating our transportation information for each student to ensure that we are getting everyone home safely each night. If you have not contacted the office to update this year's transportation information for your student, please contact Mrs. Nicol as soon as possible.
Reminder: Any transportation changes need to be reported to Mrs. Nicol in the office before 1:30 pm!
Morning Drop-off Expectations
After a few weeks of school, it is a good time to review some expectations and procedures that can make our morning drop-off at the cafeteria doors more efficient for all our KES families:
- If you pull up to the entrance and are the only vehicle on the curb, please pull 1-2 car-lengths past the entrance. This allows several more vehicles to pull up behind you and drop off their students at the same time as you to keep our drop-off line moving.
- If you pull up behind another vehicle, leave room for your vehicle to pull out of line before the vehicle in front of you moves. If your student gets out quickly, you will be able to exit the drop-off line as soon as it is safe to do so.
- We know that some students need a few extra moments to collect their things or get one more hug or word of encouragement before they are ready to exit the vehicle each morning. If you know your student needs these things, we ask that you park in our south lot and walk your student to the cafeteria entrance when they are ready.
Thank you for your help and cooperation in making our morning drop-off as efficient and safe as possible for all our KES families!
Free Breakfast/Lunch Form
We are so excited to be able to provide all of our students a free breakfast and lunch each day. Doing so requires us to have all our families fill out a breakfast/lunch form to maintain our eligibility in the program. The information we collect on this form benefits not only our breakfast/lunch program, but also the funding we receive for other programs in our school. If you have not filled out a form for your family, please do so and return it to school as soon as possible.
