McKay High School Weekly Update

Week of April 24 -- 28

Message from the Admin Team

Each Monday Principal Quiring sends out her notes to staff. These notes include a personal message from the admin team. This week's message spoke to the important role that consistency plays in student success. As we near the end of April it is important that our students and their families continue to consistently do the things that have helped your students to have success. Please continue to track your student's work via studentvue, this can help to assure that your student is not getting behind in their studies. Track your student's attendance, we know that regular attendance leads to academic success, please be sure that your student is on time and in their assigned classes. Finally, continue to reach out to our teachers and ask questions when they arise. As I stated earlier, we are looking at our own school practices, and doing what we can to remain consistent with our efforts. Together we can assure that we are having a great deal of success at the end of this school year.

Shout Outs (Academic, Athletics, Activities)

This past week things began to slow down in terms of activities. Our Spring sports continue to battle with mother nature to hold their events. One of the groups that was able to play was our Boys Volleyball Club team. This past weekend (as shown below) they hosted a number of teams. Our boys battled their way to the semi-final game.

Another highlight of the week came from our Theater Department. Our Royal Theatre students took in a show this week, and continue to find ways to improve their experience here at McKay.

Finally, this past Tuesday we hosted our AVID Family Night. Our AVID students welcomed their families to McKay, the turn out was good, and many connections were made at the event. These are all some great examples of the opportunities for students that take place week in and week out at McKay High.
