The start of the war
President James Madison and congress declared war and the war got started. The British burned down the white house and Dolley Madison saved the George Washington painting. The French didn't want America to trade with the British and the British didn't want the french to trade with America. It's really tiring.
The causes of the war
The British burned down the white house and Dolley Madison saved the picture of George Washington. The main cause was the British took our sailors and forsed them to work with them.
The effects of the war
Some of the major effects of the war of 1812 increased patriotism in the United States and increased respect for the US from other countries.

On December 24, 1814 the british and americans made a treaty called the treaty of ghent.
The end of the War
America and Great Britan made a treaty called the treaty of Ghent which ended the war. Some important people were James Madison, King George III, Napoleon, and Dolley Madison. About 8,600 Britans died and 11,300 Americans died. For Native Americans they
