Myers-Wilkins Wolf Tracks
March 2017 - Issue 6
We are in the last third of the school year. My how time flies! Lots has happened and tons of exciting events coming up. I want to let you know about some changes we are making to make communication a bit more streamlined and accessible to you. We will begin to ensure that our newsletters are on the website promptly and sent out by the first week of the month. We will also be sending a mid-month newsletter update that just has dates and reminders for our families. We will continue to do callouts to our families the day before an event as well. If you have any other suggestions please let me know. We are always looking for feedback on how we can improve communication at MW.
I wanted to take a second to briefly talk to you about our recent lock-down. The day after the lock-down I sent a letter home to parents explaining that we had to conduct one. After some feedback from families within the community I wanted to clarify a couple of things. We went into a lock-down as soon as we were notifiedby the police department which was at 2:25 p.m. Unfortunately, students had already been released and the media already on the scene.. I have contacted Chief Tusken and discussed with him how they can better support us in the future in communicating with us sooner. There were also questions about the callout process and everyone not receiving the two that were sent out. I am requesting that if you are one of those individuals to please ensure that your contact information is up to date with us. You can either change your contact information on the parent portal at http://www.isd709.org/district/departments-3/technology/infinite-campus or contact Dee Dee our school secretary. If you do not have your login information for parent portal please contact our technology department @ 336.8754.
Thank you for coming out to parent teacher conferences this past month.
Just a quick reminder to send your child in appropriate gear for the weather outside and ensure to label it. If you need support with this please contact Laura or Seiquayia at ext. 2501. Also remember to check the lost in found if your child has lost a piece of clothing.
Thank you for all you do for your child(ren) here at Myers-Wilkins. We appreciate your support.

Myers-Wilkins has a very active and inclusive parent group. The meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month. There will be a snack and childcare provided. Mark your calendars!!! Our fourth PSAC meeting will be on March 14th. We would like as many parents as possible to be a part of this group. We will have a set agenda. The PSAC meeting will be from 5:15-6:30 p.m. in the media center. If you are not able to come to the meeting we are looking for volunteers in our building. Please stop by the office or give us a call and we can connect you to help out and be active here at Myers-Wilkins. We look forward to seeing you there!
