AVONDALE CHOIRS GO 6 FOR 6!!!
Avondale High School and Avondale Middle School choirs performed at the Michigan School Vocal Music Association District 16 Choir Festival Monday, March 13th and Thursday, March 16th. On Monday, we had 3 choirs perform at Dakota High School and Thursday, March 16th. All 6 choirs received a 1st Division and are STATE BOUND!!!!
7th & 8th Grade Choir – 1st Division
Concert Choir – 1st Division - Received a perfect score from all 3 performance judges and from their sight-reading judge (120 out of 120)
Women’s Chorus – 1st Division – Received a perfect score in sight-reading (119 out of 120 overall)
Mixed Chorus – 1st Division – Received a perfect score from all 3 performance judges (119 out of 120 overall)
Men of Avondale – 1st Division – Received a perfect score from all 3 performance judges (118 out of 120 overall)
Women of Concert Choir – 1st Division – (118 out of 120 overall)
From Avondale Vocal Music Director, Mr. Kevin Cornwell: Congratulations to all of our middle school and high school choir students who participated in the MSVMA Districts. The judges mentioned that our choirs were some of the best that they have heard during the week of performances! A special thanks to our students who have continued the rich tradition at Avondale of being the best!

MORE AMAZING RESULTS FROM OUR AMAZING VOCAL MUSIC DEPARTMENT!!
Our Avondale High School Vocal Music Department was very successful this past Saturday, March 18th at the Michigan School Vocal Music Association (MSVMA) State Solo and Ensemble which was held at Eastern Michigan University. We had over twenty events participate and for the first time in Avondale Vocal Music Director, Mr. Kevin Cornwell’s tenure as the choir director, 100% of events received a 1st Division at state solo and ensemble!!!!!
Congratulations to the following soloists and ensembles in the choral department that received a first division. They received great compliments from their judges for being well-prepared!!!
