ELA
We are entering a brand new week and a brand new time to learn something new. We have started our fourth module on Westward Expansion. We are learning about history while learning key concepts like Synthesize, Text Structure, Author's Craft, and how to identify the Central Idea of a reading passage. The grammar that is included this week is homophones/homographs as well as prefix (mid) and suffix (al, ic). Students should be done with their persuasive essays. They were do last Friday. Moving forward we are learning how to write a formal letter. Students know about a friendly letter but will now expand onto a formal letter. Have an amazing week!

Math
This week we are finishing division, and module 2! Students will come home with a study guide at the beginning of the week, and we will be having our end of module 2 assessment towards the end of the week! We all are SO excited to be done with module two and begin module 3. Our end of the module test will include multi-digit multiplication and long division. As always, please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Science
In science our essential question for the week will be "How do we distinguish between mixtures, solutions, and compounds?". This week I will continue a FOSS experiment for the students where we will analyze a solution made of two substances. Then we will work on identifying examples of elements, mixtures and compounds. Students will watch a video about mixtures and solutions to help them identify the examples. At the end of the week students will read articles relating to physical properties.
