Board of Education appoints Sonya Evans to vacant board position

At a special Board of Education meeting on June 16, the Board appointed Sonya Evans, Ed.D., to fill the vacant District 1 Board of Education position. She was one of nine applicants for the open position that expires in January 2026.


Committees served include the Blue Valley Curriculum and Instruction Board Advisory Committee, Blue Valley Strategic Planning Committee, Blue Valley Educational Foundation (BVEF) Grant Committee and BVEF Women’s Giving Circle. Additionally, Evans serves on the Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) Advisory Board and the BVEF Board.


Evans will be sworn in at Blue Valley’s regularly scheduled school board meeting at 5:30 p.m. on July 17.
