Hybrid Schedule Information

November 12, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to begin this letter by thanking your student for remaining disciplined in their adherence to our procedures and protocols while at school. Their continued effort in wearing masks, remaining socially distant, and washing their hands while interacting with their classmates and learning in a safe environment has resulted in a very healthy student body. Throughout over 2,200 students, we currently only have one active COVID-19 case with few quarantines.

With that said, we are currently at a point where the amount of adults we have out on a daily basis has made it increasingly difficult to operate our buildings in an efficient manner. Note, this is not an indictment of our staff’s following of the procedures – as they have done an excellent job - rather an unfortunate result of the continued community spread throughout Fayette County and surrounding areas.

Due to the shortage of staff, Washington Court House City Schools will operate on a Hybrid

Schedule for the week of November 16-20, 2020. Approximately 50% of our in-person students will attend school on Monday and Tuesday with the other 50% attending on Thursday and Friday. There will be no students in the district on Wednesday as our staff cleans and disinfects all facilities.

Student attendance days will be determined by their ‘Family Group” name. A Family Group name is based on the last name of the youngest student in the household. In the instance that the students in your household have varying last names, the days they attend in person will be on the corresponding day of the youngest student in the house.

Family Groups with last names beginning with A-L will attend on Monday and Tuesday, and

students with last names beginning with M-Z attending on Thursday and Friday.

Teachers may provide additional reading, materials, or assignments to enhance the education of their students when not in-person, so students must check their Canvas and email accounts each week day they are at home. Students will not be required to attend synchronous lessons online while at home.

To continue to provide nutrition to our students, the Big Blue Bus will deliver free meals each day: 11:00 AM - Kroger, 11:30 AM - Rose Avenue, 12:00 PM - South Side, 12:30 PM - Grace Community

Families may also pick up a meal at the WHS cafeteria back door (between WHS and McDonalds) from 11 AM to NOON. We encourage all who intend to utilize this drive thru to call 740-636-4270 before 10:30 AM the day of in order for our team to have an accurate count of the day’s pickups.

At this time, WCHCS plans to return to our normal five-day schedule upon returning from Fall Break on November 30, 2020. In order for us to do so, it is imperative that our families remain disciplined in their mask wearing, social distancing, hygiene, and avoiding large gatherings and crowds. Thank you for your continued help in keeping our community and the Blue Lion Family safe and healthy.
