How Will We Incorporate Technology in Our Class?
Dear Parents & Students,
When technology integration in the classroom is seamless and thoughtful, students not only become more engaged, they will begin to take more control over their own learning, As well. Effective technology integration changes classroom dynamics by encouraging student-centered project-based learning. Think about how you would like to use technology in our class. You will be employing technology daily in the classroom, using a variety of tools to complete assignments and create projects that show a deep understanding of Life Science!! I have listed 3 application which we will be employing this year in our science class.
Google Docs
What is this?
Google Docs is a web based app in which documents and spreadsheets are created and stored online. These documents can be accessed from any computer with internet connection.
How will we use it in class?
Via sharing, multiple people can work in a document at the same time, making collaboration simple. Google Docs links to a Gmail account, so students (and parents) can easily move from school to home to library while still being able to access their work. We will be using Google Docs to create group projects and other classroom activities.
LearnZillion
What is this?
LearnZillion helps teachers and parents meet the academic needs of their students. That is done by providing an open, cloud-based curriculum. This app helps teachers, schools, and districts improve instruction, track student performance, and better respond to the specific needs of their students.
How will we use it in class?
LearnZillion is a great way to enlist the help of parents and guardians. This website makes it easy for teachers to get clarification on the content standards through lessons labeled with the standards. It also breaks difficult concepts down for students (and parents!). Parents and students should log on often to view academic progress and performance.
Padlet
What is this?
Padlet is an Internet application that allows people to express their thoughts on a common topic easily. It works like an online sheet of paper where people can put any content (e.g. images, videos, documents, text) anywhere on the page, together with anyone, from any device.
How will we use it in class?
I will be using Padlet to summarize a large amounts of information and present it in a visually pleasing way. I will use text, photos, graphs and other learning tools and share the image with students before a big test or discussion. We will also be using Padlet as a Questions Board: Students can access a "questions" board 24/7 and anonymously post questions. I will then read off and answer the questions each day
