Mr. McKay's 4th Grade Manta Rays
Our first week and a half under our belts!
Welcome to Smore!
Hello families! This is Paul McKay your child's 4th Grade Teacher at Forest Hills. I wanted to welcome you again to the '16-'17 school year as well as to introduce you to Smore, the new system that I will be using to send out my newsletters about what's going on in the class! In these newsletters you will find announcements, information about upcoming events, as well as what we have been up to as learners. Here is a photo that the kids have enjoyed seeing of me in the hallways of when I was in fourth grade. (Many of the kids have made comments that I looked like a "weird" 4th grader)
Our Time So Far
What a whirlwind of a week in a half! We have spent a lot of our time so far working on routines, procedures, and getting to know each other. This week we have started getting into our math curriculum and have spent some time on our number sense with place value and sequencing. The kids really enjoyed a game called 'Wragge' and have not stopped asking me when they can play it again :) This week we are also finalizing our classroom expectations that the kids discussed and came up with as a class just today!
Manta Rays?
You may be wondering why in the world there are references to manta rays on this newsletter... I literally chose that as our class mascot because it rhymed with my last name. Feel free to shoot me any other fun mascot ideas!
