Quarter 3 Happenings
This newsletter has been written by Addison and Kate:
The students are now working on their power wonderings, both politically and scientifically. Some are working on the presidential election, animals, and the Oscars. We have loved seeing our growth in inquiry throughout this year. We are so excited to see their final presentations! :)
In Miss Kesler's Math class we started Unit 9 where we are working heavily with coordinate planes in all of the four quadrants. We have introduced a new game called Hidden Treasures in which you try to guess your partner's coordinate point.
In writing, the students have been working on their Writing Circles. The students collaborate with other students that all have the same interests, but still write separately. They have chosen groups like scary stories, food, and power. Ask your kids what they're working on! :)
We have been focusing a lot of our time on identifying POWER in literature. We are identifying major power and infrences in the books we read and find common themes for power across texts. We love the thinking students show when they are conjuring up ideas for power because I can tell that their wheels are already spinning on how these lessons impact their real lives!
We just finished the writing portion of ISTEP. All of the kids did an amazing job and I am so proud of them! We will take the online portion in May, right before school ends. We love seeing their growth all throughout the year!!
