Week 26! February 23rd- 27th

Oh the joys of a snow day! (Hopefully we will get snow!)

I hope everyone stays warm and safe!

Lesson plans will change slightly depending on how the week goes.

We will reschedule parent conferences for days missed.

I'll be homeschooling Aubrey tomorrow! If you feel that your child is having a hard time, please encourage him/her to at least play the math games / review for Chapter 13 in the link below. Blame me if you must!! I'm guilty…I've tricked my kids into thinking they have the option of either going to school or having a homeschool day when school was actually cancelled or we had a holiday! It's actually a win-win deal. They are working quietly and they don't get behind!

Field Trip in April: "Our Earth, according to The Lorax"

Permission slips have been sent out. Please sign and return with a check for $5 as soon as possible if you would like your child to attend. We cannot confirm our spot until payment is made in full. A sack lunch will be needed on this day. We will have lunch in the park and the children will have time to play before returning to school.

** The math homework and classwork pages that come home are the BEST study guides! Our tests are exactly the same format as the homework and classwork! Please review these papers with your child.

Social Studies

We will work in our Maps Globes and Graphs workbook. No tests or homework for this.

We will discuss social studies skills with the IOWA prep.

Science

No lesson this week. We focus on Math and IOWA prep.

We will review and discuss science topics with the IOWA prep.

IOWA Prep

We began our IOWA prep and you may have seen the first practice test come home with test papers. I put a score on the test, but it is not a grade. The IOWA test will be read aloud and it's important that all students are using their best listening skills or they will have a difficult time keeping up. I am going to review each packet with the class to give the students an idea of what they answered compared to the right answer. We will continue to review each week until the actual test. This will be taking a chunk of our class time, so we will cut back on the big science and social studies lessons until we complete our testing phase. We will however incorporate science and social studies skills into our daily IOWA prep. We will never cut back on math as it is our main focus.
