Attendance information for signing students in and out
- If your student arrives at school after 8:30 AM, please have them sign in at the attendance office located inside the front office. At this time, the student can sign themselves in and they will be issued a pass for class. Parents do not have to come in to sign a student in. Please have them bring any documentation from an appointment and give it to Mrs. Kinsey, our attendance clerk or feel free to email her at tkinsey@lexrich5.org.
- If your student needs to be dismissed early, please call the front office once you pull into the front parking lot of CMS so that our staff can call your student to the front office for dismissal. You will need to come inside the front office to sign your student out for the day.
- If someone other than a parent or guardian will be signing your student out, please call the front office or email our attendance clerk at tkinsey@lexrich5.org. The nurse has the emergency contact list, so please let us know if you are allowing someone different to pick up your child from school early.
- Due to traffic on Broad River Road, we are encouraging parents to be here no later than 3:00 PM to pick up your student for an early dismissal.
way to go! kudos! woo hoo!

STAYING CONNECTED TO YOUR STUDENT
Parents often ask how to stay connected to a child’s progress and have some controls with assignments on the internet. At CMS we are committed to helping you accomplish this. We have several ways that you can actually keep an eye on your student’s academics and their digital footprint.
Currently we have three options. Parent Portal, Student Google Login, and Google Classroom Guardian Email Summaries. I have outlined the benefits of each in the table below.
CMS currently would like to suggest that you sign up for Parent Portal and learn how to log in to your child’s Google Account. The Google Classroom Guardian is also a great tool but may be redundant if you log into your child’s account regularly. CMS requests that you log into your child’s account regularly. If students are aware that parents can look at email correspondence, classwork and other activities regularly, it helps them make the better choice in a difficult situation.
As you are aware, District 5 uses a student’s birth date as a password. We choose at CMS not to reset these passwords so that parents can easily access student accounts regularly. The benefit of not having lost instructional time for “forgotten” passwords is invaluable, and when students know that parents and teachers can access their accounts, it helps them stay on task and make good choices.
If you have any questions regarding how to sign up for any of this information please contact our Digital Integration Specialist, Lori Powers at lpowers@lexrich5.org or 803-722-5573. Click here to access the document below with LIVE LINKS.
