Cougar Courier

Greetings from Dr. G

August 31, 2019

As we move into the month of September, I encourage you to discuss with your scholar what it means to be open minded. Being open minded is one of the IB principles and is the focus for September. Being open minded encourages students to recognize and value the diversity of the world they live in, to recognize and respect multiple perspectives, and to view new experiences as opportunities for growth.

While we have a shortened week coming up, it is packed. Be sure to check out the dates to know later in the newsletter.

Picture day is Wednesday, September 4th. We are allowing scholars to dress up for picture day but this is NOT a dress down day. Ripped pants, t-shirts, or sweats are not acceptable.

Upon reflection and analysis of the dress code, the administrative team has made the following changes to the dress code. We appreciate your help in making sure scholars are adhering to the dress code. Parents will be contacted if scholars are chronically failing to follow the dress code.

Tops:

Tops should be red, yellow (any shade), white, light blue, navy blue, or black.

Tops should have a collar (unless it’s spirit wear)

Tops should be free of large images and inappropriate language

Bottoms:

Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be longer than finger-tip at arm’s length

Shorts are only permissible 1st and 4th quarter

Colors - tan/khaki, navy or black

No blue jeans or sweats

Bottoms should not be form fitting

Shoes must be appropriate for school. Please, no open toed sandals, slides, or flip flops

Notes:

Students may wear tops with hood but should not have the hood up.

Have a restful and rejuvenating holiday weekend. We will see your scholars on Tuesday!

Blessings,

Dr. Garcia
