Grizzly Family Update
May 17th-21st, 2021
Another week of remote learning is in the books! Thank you to families, students, and staff for another successful week. The forecast for the beginning of this week looks lovely! Please remember to get outside and take advantage of the nice weather whenever possible. A little Vitamin D is good for the soul.
Books, Books, Books!
Our amazing school council has offered to help us buy summer reading books for everyone! Each student has up to $25 with which to pick out books at http://www.scholastic.ca
Once they have decided on the title (s) that they want, they can enter the information using the Form link below. Books should be available for distribution or pick up during the last week of school. Please ensure that orders are placed by the end of May to ensure that they arrive on time. Let's get reading Grizzlies!
Phone Messages Checked Daily:
If we do not answer the phone, please leave a message. We will return your call as soon as we can!
Are You Moving?
It is that time of year again when we start planning for next year. If you know your child will be moving to a different school and will not be at GPS for September 2021, please let us know!
Please continue to complete attendance for your child if you know they will be away that day! We are still doing call-outs as attendance is taken each day. Please make sure your child checks-in with their teacher in some way throughout the day so that they are not accidentally marked absent. Thank you in advance.
Last Week for Government Supports for Students:
If you received a payment through the Support for Learners program, you do not need to apply. Starting on April 26, 2021, we will begin issuing additional payments of:
- $400 for each child or youth up to Grade 12
- $500 for each child or youth up to age 21 with special needs
If you missed applying for the Support for Learners program, you will have the opportunity to apply for this new round of payment. Applications will open from May 3, 2021 to May 17, 2021.Learn more on the government’s Support for Learners webpage.
Take good care of yourselves and one another. Happy week 5 of learning!

2021-22 School Year Planning
*Virtual School Registration Extended until June 4th. Here is the registration link. Please note, if your student will be attending in-person school, no action is required on your part.
*Elementary schools (Kindergarten to Grade 8) will offer full-time in-person learning. Students will continue to be cohorted, or grouped, with their classmates and homeroom teacher. Specialized teachers, for classes such as French, the arts and health and physical education, will continue to visit classrooms as required and as was the case this year. This model could change based on a variety of factors.
*Families are asked to complete a separate survey for each student in your family who is currently attending a Limestone school. Students in Grades 4 to 12 will have received an invite to participate via their Limestone email. The board hopes to capture authentic student voice from students themselves who are directly affected by remote learning. Younger students may require support from family members to complete the survey. The survey is open until May 28, 2021 and will take no more than 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Here is the link for the survey: LDSB Virtual Learning Survey May 2021 - Families

Kindergaten September 2021 Registration Now Open! #SeeYourselfInLimestone
Spread the word about our amazing Kindergarten program and team at Glenburnie Public School! We offer a full day of learning for four- and five-year-olds over a two year period in English! (Please note, the child must be 4 or 5 by the end of December!)
Our Kindergarten program aims to nurture the whole child. In our Kindergarten classroom, a teacher and an early childhood educator work together as a team. This partnership helps to create a nurturing learning environment; giving every student the opportunity to learn in the way that is best suited to their individual strengths and needs. You can feel confident your student will be cared for within safe and inclusive environments.
Pick up Nevada tickets and drop off batteries at the same place
Did you know that you can purchase Nevada tickets to support GPS? They can be purchased at the Centex Gas Station - Glenburnie Convenience (2408 Perth Road). Alkaline batteries can also be dropped off there for recycling. A big thank you to Centex for helping us! Prizes are awarded to schools that participate and the battery program supports Sick Kids Hospital.
