Covid Testing
Mr. Granatino sent an email to families on 10/13 with good information regarding the test and stay and symptomatic testing now available in school. If you didn’t see it, please review the information below. I encourage you to sign the consent form (link below) for your child so we will have it in place if your child becomes a close contact and you want to opt for test and stay.
Consent:
Parents who wish to have their children participate in MPSD district Covid-19 testing along with staff must complete consent forms.
Test and Stay Requirements:
Parent/Guardian & staff consent completed
Applies only for students/staff identified as a result of in school exposure
Monitor health every day, stay home if symptoms develop
Wear a mask at all time (except lunch/snack break)
3 foot distancing at lunch/snack when mask is off
Quarantine at home if not attending school or school-sponsored activity
Testing occurs for 5 consecutive school days
Testing conducted by CIC RN in consultation with building nurse
If the test is positive: the student is dismissed to complete 10 days of isolation. If the test is negative student stays in school
If attending a school-sponsored activity, including school-sponsored athletics on a day when school isn't in session, let your school nurse know and she will arrange for testing through an "at home, monitored" kit
Preferable for parents to transport to school for testing. If arrives via bus, contact person MUST be available to dismiss student if test is positive
Symptomatic Testing Requirements:
Is used when a student is showing clinical symptoms of COVID-19 during school
Parent/Guardian consent completed
Students should not come to school if they are feeling sick while at home
Some symptoms of the virus look identical to other illnesses like the cold or flu, and this test is one method of testing a symptomatic student for COVID-19
This is a rapid test, and we receive the results of this test within 15 minutes
If the test is positive: the student is dismissed to complete 10 days of isolation
If the test is negative: the student is dismissed for a followup PCR test from a medical
provider and may return with negative PCR test or a doctor makes an alternate diagnosis, is fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication, and symptoms are improved
Clothing request: I am looking for donations of boys size small shorts and athletic or sweatpants to have on hand in the nurse clinic. If you have any that your son has outgrown and you wish to donate, please send in a bag labeled “Nurse”
Thank you!!

BOOST
Our annual BOOST drive is still going… with a huge goal in mind! This year the PTO is partnering with the SRS teachers and reading specialists to update and expand the book collection available to students. While the classics will always be classics, there are so many great new books that deserve a good home in the SRS classrooms. SRS uses Readers’ Workshop as their reading instruction, which means teachers rely on a variety of levels, topics and genres to enhance their lessons to meet the needs of all the learners in our classroom. We are hoping to commit to giving each grade level their own funds toward helping them develop enriching and diverse libraries.
BOOST is our largest fundraiser and we are hoping to use a portion of our BOOST drive to help fund this incentive. Please consider donating to BOOST today! For more information: click here
