In reflecting upon the start of the school year, I’d like to recognize and thank our incredible students, families, and staff for the work that is being done throughout the District. It is through this consolidated effort that we will continue to grow and do great things for our students. I could not be more excited about the direction the District is going. I am honored to serve alongside so many talented and committed individuals. Thank you for all you do!

Parent-Teacher Conference Appointments Available Beginning November 1

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held in all KSD 140 elementary and middle schools on Monday, November 21, and Tuesday, November 22. In an effort to better serve our parents, we will be hosting both IN-PERSON and VIRTUAL Parent-Teacher Conferences.


Scheduling

Beginning Tuesday, November 1 at 8:00 am, please click the Parent-Teacher Conference Appointment link found at ksd140.org and follow the directions for scheduling a conference. Our PTCFast.com online scheduler will be open Tuesday, November 1 at 8:00 am through Friday, November 18.


Parent-Teacher Conference Format Options


IN-PERSON Schedule:

Monday, November 21: 5 pm - 8 pm

Tuesday, November 22: 12 pm - 3 pm


VIRTUAL Schedule:

Monday, November 21: 1 pm - 4 pm

Tuesday, November 22: 8 am - 11 am


Elementary school conferences will be fifteen minutes in length and middle school conferences will be eight minutes in length, regardless of the format selected.


If you are a middle school parent/guardian, please note that Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held individually by teacher this year. Please log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal to review your child’s teachers and subject areas before scheduling your conference(s).


If you do not have internet access or are unable to make an appointment, please feel free to contact your child’s school, and the office staff will be happy to assist you.

PV Boys’ Softball Team Wins SWIC Tournament Championship

Congratulations to the Prairie View boys' softball team, who were named the Southwest Interscholastic Conference (SWIC) tournament champions after defeating Simmons 13-0 on Tuesday, October 4.


Coached by Mr. David Zielezinski, the Prairie View Eagles roster includes Justin B., Ryan D., Parker G., Danny H., Tyler K., Adam L., Pat M., Austin N., Lucca S., Alexander S., Sam T., Logan V., Casey W., and Nolan W.


The team ended with a 9-5 record, including post-season play. Way to go, Eagles!

And the Winner is ... Bannes Elementary School!

Congratulations to Bannes Elementary School for an astounding 87% participation rate in D140’s Walk and Roll to School Day. Students and staff enjoyed a schoolwide popcorn treat served by Superintendent Callaghan on Thursday, October 27.

The Board of Education honored the Prairie View Boyś Softball SWIC Tournament Champions and Millennium Paraeducator Carla Zidek for outstanding achievements and contributions to the District 140 community. Congratulations to all!

KSD 140 Band Performs Pregame Show with VJA Marching Band

Roughly 160 band members from Grissom and Prairie View joined the Andrew Marching Thunderbolts for the football pregame show on Friday, October 14.


The combined D140 and Andrew Bands rehearsed together for a short time before the game in instrument sections. Band members played well despite the rainy weather. Thanks to our D140 Band Directors, Mr. Hodges, Mr. Szczasny, and Ms. Boulas, and our talented musicians for their outstanding performance.

T.P. Fire Department Announces Winners of Fire Prevention Poster Contest

Congratulations to this year’s winners of the Tinley Park Fire Department’s Annual Fire Prevention Poster Contest. This year's theme was “Fire Won’t Wait. Plan Your Escape.”


Winners included five D140 students:

First Grade: Vinny M. (Bannes)

Third Grade: Gavin H. (McAuliffe)

Fourth Grade: Tegan F-M. (McAuliffe)

Fifth Grade: Aaron M. (McAuliffe)


A special congratulations to the overall grand prize winner, Tegan F-M. from McAuliffe Elementary School!


Winners and their families were invited to breakfast at Fire Station 47 on Saturday, October 22. Each winner will also enjoy a ride to school in a TPFD Fire Truck.

D140 at Trinity Christian College Career Fair

KSD 140 administrators attended the Fall 2022 Connections Education Event at Trinity Christian College on October 26 and conducted mock interviews with students and alumni from Trinity’s Education program. These individuals were able to polish their interviewing skills, while we enjoyed the opportunity to connect with some prospective teaching and paraeducator candidates.

Calendar Change

This year, D140's Winter Break will begin with a Half Day on Thursday, December 22. Elementary schools will be dismissed at 11:10 am, and middle schools will be dismissed at noon.


This is a change from the 2022-23 school year calendar originally released to families. The adjustment to Winter Break will also affect the last day of school. The 2022-23 school year will now conclude with a Half Day on Friday, June 9, 2023. Elementary schools will be dismissed at 11:10 am, and middle schools will be dismissed at noon.
