PHS Parent Bulletin--August 2019

Gearing Up for a New School Year!

We are excited to welcome you back to the 2019-20 school year! Our staff has worked hard this summer attending many trainings and planning to ensure a successful start of a new school year. PHS educators attended 900+ hours of training this summer! Our top priority as a staff is to continue to provide meaningful learning experiences in a safe, helpful, and inspiring environment so that all of our students are prepared for life after high school. In fact, our mission to ENSURE all students learn at high levels for success in their future, whether that include college, vocational or trade school, military service, or the work force is at the heart of all the work we do. We hope the information included in this bulletin will help you and your student prepare for another successful year at PHS.

Important changes this school year

There are three changes all parents and students should be mindful of as we begin this school year.

1) All students must submit proof of residency before school begins. Students will not be able to get their schedules until online registration is complete and proof of residency is submitted. (see link below)

2.) All students must be present for the entire attendance accounting period to be eligible to participate in any student extracurricular activities. If a student is absent for 3rd period they will not be able to compete or travel with a PHS extracurricular team. We ask that all appointments be made with this expectation in mind.

3.) Beginning this year, students may wear shorts that are mid-thigh length in the front and back. Spandex and bike shorts are not allowed. All other dress code expectations will remain the same.

Why attend prep days?

This is an important before school event because students will take yearbook photos, receive their student ID, get schedules, and be able to obtain their parking permits which is required for all students parking on campus. Freshmen orientation will begin in our cafeteria and prep days will be in the 600 hallway and library. Attendance is required, and students must be in dress code.
