A little about me...
I was born in Clifton Forge, VA and remember playing with my cousins as a child. I am very thankful for my family and friends. Community service and outreach is important to me. I graduated from Radford University with a degree in criminal justice and sociology. My Master's of Education degree is from Lynchburg College.
What did you want to be when you grew up? A law enforcement or a teacher
Unique skill or talent: Baking
Hobbies/Interests: Traveling, running, yoga, hiking, reading, and eating
I am an advocate for high quality reading instruction. I believe reading is a fundamental civil right. This is my 26th year in the field of education. I started my teaching career at Lord Botetourt High School as a long-term substitute, and was a teacher at James River HS for fifteen years.
A little about my family...
I am the oldest child in my family and have three siblings. I have been married to my husband Ray for 28 years. Our son, Addison is 20 years old and is in his second year at William and Mary. I am an animal lover. We have two West Highland Terriers--Chloe and Finley. As a family, we like to travel and try different foods.
A little about my education...
Elementary School: former Eagle Rock Elementary and Central Elementary
I started Kindergarten at the old Eagle Rock ES and finished at Central Elementary School.
Middle School:
I didn't have a middle school!
High School: Alleghany
Go Mountaineers! My favorite class was Journalism and I worked on the high school paper.
Colleges: Radford University & Lynchburg College
I earned a degree in Criminology and Sociology and continued my education by receiving a Masters in Education from Lynchburg College.
